Worst band in concert I've ever seen was Smashing Pumpkins (well, more specifically, Billy Corgan...the band was fine). Lollapalooza '94. They were the headliner act. They came out and Corgan immediately started insulting the audience and was purposefully singing as badly as he possibly could, just to be a dick. People started leaving in droves so he sang even worse and went on insulting the crowd continuously, even during the middle of songs. The rest of the band were all looking at each other like "WTF?". No wonder Chamberlin's the only one who will have anything to do with him anymore.

Ouch. The sad fact is, Billy did act this way at a number of shows. I don't really recall the reasoning, but I think it was something to do with being pissed off at the Lollapalooza people or whatever. I can't blame anyone for not liking him after seeing him behave this way... I know I'd probably feel the same way if I had been unfortunate enough to see any of these shows. Still, he's awesome when he doesn't let his ego get in the way, and this new album sounds like it's going to kick all kinds of ass in my opinion.

Hmm. Well, considering the fact that when I turn on the only supposed modern "rock" radio station in my area and I'm treated to mediocre crap like Linkin' Park and Papa Roach... yeah, I'd say that rock is in desperate need of saving.

i saw them in germany in '95 or '96 and he was constantly making fun of the crowd. the show was great, but he seemed to be in full dick-mode.

He just got on stage, grabbed the microphone and started going "You're all a bunch of f**king loser a**holes and I hope you all f**king die on the way home! F**k all of you, you sorry, sad pieces of sh1t!" and other lovely sentiments along those lines. Mind you, this was an audience that had been rocking and very vocal in support of all the previous acts, too. It was a great crowd until he showed up. Pure class, Billy. Pure class.
