Birds of Prey Birds of Prey General Discussion and Speculation

I think the idea of a "shared universe" in the Marvel sense is all but dead.

I really think WB is playing to their strengths, which is one film at a time and doing daring, director-driven films.

So in some ways they may connect, in others they may not. A bit like comics, really.

I think the best way to put it is that the things you want to connect will and the things you dont wont. There is no 22 movie story structure, it is just a bunch of things happening and you can decide what exists and what doesnt. There are definite connections, but whether you consider those Easter Eggs or proof of deeper connection is on you and on the director/writer of that film.

As you say, that is how comics tend to do it and that seems to be where WB is going with it.

Most rumors from reddit usually are.

True story :hehe:

I just saw the other day those rumors re-circulating around here and didnt want people to get the wrong idea or whatever or to feel they were spoiled. :)

While I’m really looking forward to this movie and love the attempts at variety that WB DC films are aiming for, the idea of the shared universe as you pointed out is now totally muddled, confusing and broken. Unless it all gets changed by the Flash movie which is supposedly a very different take on the Flashpoint storyline. I think for the most part, Bats and Supes just disappear which is so weird. I do not think Flash, WW, and Aquaman will be seen in a film together any time soon
I wouldn't say that the idea of shared universe is broken as the movie series (good or bad) follows continuity from Man of Steel to Shazam, and now to Birds of Prey (as per dhandler01). It' s just that they need to clear what happened to Batman and Superman.

Marvel shared universe is just them building up to some ensemble event movie taking into account few incidents that happened in movies preceding that big event movie.

In DCEU's case, movies exist in same universe but are not building up to something bigger. (at least now) I think Shazam, Black Adam and Shazam 2 will be closely connect with each other in their own corner of the universe.

The shared universe failed because they didn't put in the time and effort needed to make it work and they sabotaged themselves at every turn. Not to mention the decision makers at the top of the studio were incompetent.

So - how were the actions scenes compared to the clips? Were they better edited?

The action in this movie is really great, the clip was the only bit of bad action I saw in the film. The police station scene is excellently choreographed, shot and edited

I never thought this day would ever come...
...but im gonna be skipping a Superhero/Comic book movie for the first time in my life.

This sums it up nicely.

RT's flawed review system in one review.

I think Grace is just mad her "scoop" about the diamond was full on wrong. She totally got played by someone at WB. :hehe:

note: There is a major story line with a diamond...no it isnt about what Grace threw a hissy fit about. That is why she is going off about how Ewan isnt gay enough or something...

Grace seems to be really hard on DC lately. She claims to be a big Batman fan. She almost lost her lunch watching the quick 30 second Disney + Marvel tv spot that showed nothing. Grace acted like it was the greatest tv spot in the history of the Super Bowl.
