Bizarro Superboy (Kon-El) in TT East???? MUST SEE

I'm the guy that wakes up in the middle of the night, jots something down and never gets back to it. I hope to change that one day and become a professional writer.

Hey, if one of us makes it, they give the other ones referals to whatever publisher they are with :p

Once I write my bestselling book I'll put in a good word for you guys. I'd probably be one of the people who'd get into comics after writing books though. I love 'em, and I'd kill to write them, but most submissions to publishers require an artist, so I'll get my name out there first.

That's my feeling as well... no one will accept anything without an artist, so either I need to find one at university or get a decent enough name before hand :(

My main problem is that I have way too many ideas. I'll come up with a sweet idea for a comic, and then get an idea for a TV show that I might be able to make somewhere down the line. Luckily, alot of my ideas would be pretty much impssible without making a name for myself first (I have a bunch of comic ideas for the DCU, and I have an idea for a possible HBO TV series), and the two ideas I'm concentraiting on right now (a comic with all origional characters and a TV show that I could easily make with my friends and put on the internet or public access TV) would be the nkind of thing that would help me make a name for myself.

Hi All,

Check this out: http://www.wizarduniverse.com/magazine/wizard/001465227.cfm

Here is the description of Match in Wiki: Match is a fictional character in the DC Comics Universe. He is a clone of the modern Superboy (Kon-El) and a member of Titans East. The team is set to debut in Teen Titans #42.

Has he shown up in previous comics???

Ah :o  :(

I'm really excited for this; I read every single appearance of Match in the old days.

People accept pitches without artists all the time.

Yeah, like Harl said, they don't. Most require you to submit three pages of art work as a MINIMUM with a one page synopsis of the entire story (not a single issue, but the entire story). It's extremely lame. Luckily my current idea is great apart from I'd need an AMAZING artist with two very contradicting styles of art.

Does Match have the same powers as Superboy?

Yes, except he knows how to use them better. He was using heat vision way before Connor was.

I think that was just Dr. Psycho's power increase. If you'll notice, later on Giganta's fists went right through him like he was incorporeal.

Yeah that was Dr. Psycho (and his new found power boost) malking everyone see the illusion of Superboy. Not Match. Does anyone remember what the last thing to happen to match was?

That seems stupid. All I know is the art side of stuff. They want lots of pages with narrative work and laugh at you if you send splash pages.

Yeah, well, writers need to have artists. ****ty, I know.

It's not even like that within the industry, though. Writers' pitches are accepted at Marvel and DC all the time with the artist to be determined. Sometimes the comic is even solicited with the artist to be determined.

It's weird. I guess they need you to prove yourself as a writer, but I don't think you need art for that. Maybe they want to make sure that you can work well with artists.

If you're someone relatively well established, its true. If Joe Bloggs walks in off the street tho, it's a different matter.

You won't get picked up by DC or Marvel going in with an idea for a already existing character, and you won't get picked up going in with anything original.

Best bet for any aspiring Writer is to find an artist and go through image, as all comics are creator owned there. You make a name for yourself, THEN the big boys come sniffing around, or you send them stuff and they consider it. By this point you already have friends in the buisness from your first independent comic.

Some very lucky people will get stuff accepted by Vertigo or Dark Horse, but it needs to be exceptional. Like my friend... who I hate and hope he dies. That, or I hope he succeeds and gets me in with an artist. Either way.

Yeah, exactly, once you got your name in there you can just pitch, but first-time submissions require an artist.

I believe that the last we saw him he was Jokerized, flying away from the Young Justice HQ after Cassie emotionally affected him or something.

I was speaking to someone I know in the industry recently and he was saying that you sometimes you can submit working without art - if it is strong enough they will accept it. But I'd say the majority of time (until you are a known selling name) you have to submit with art.

Exactly.
