They do show College Hill and they had that one DMX reality show in the summer, but dang, reality tv ain't s***.
When it comes to reality TV and blacks, it's kinda funny when you think about how reailty TV is suppose to be all "real" yet they seem to always find black folks that fit a certain stereotype, or they thrust the stereotype on them. I mean you've got...

The Angry black man (Self-explanitory)
The Black *****
The Confused bi-racial girl (usually half black, half white) or bi-racial girl who doesn't date black guys
The Teacher (the black guy who ends up teaching the white castmates about racism and why it's not ok to say the N word).
The Black teddy bear ("I won't hook up with you, but if I'm ever in trouble or need someone to look after me I can always count on my big teddy bear")
And, of course, the "Playa"

Did I forget any other ones?

Mario Gully is talking about bringing his comic Ant to a cartoon series, and Hudlin and McDuffie are now supposedly in charge of the animation block on BET, so hopefully he can do this.

Don't let the eye candy fool you, it's pretty deep.

LOL! True..also being the biggest hypocrite.

I swear the spiritual ones is what gets me the most. There's this girl i work with that's always asking me when i'm going come to her church, and 'catch the spirit with her', etc, etc. But she's the most ignorant, ghetto-fabulous, sista i have ever met, while she's at work..go figure.:whatever:

Spawn was in it, it wasn't abou fanservice or anything.

With Reginald Hudlin in charge of programming, I'm surprised the network has continued to devolve.

well, all i know is: 'sanford and son'....funny as hell...legendary TV show....thoroughly enjoyed by people of all race. 'The Parkers'....completely void of humor and talent....all involved should be ashamed of themselves...will be forgotten....as it should be.

i dunno, i dont think race has anything to do with the quality and success of either show. and even if the writers in the 70's were prodominantly white (i'll take your word on that), the shows still had fantastic black cast members/actors. in the end, i think it's clear that black TV programming today is of extremely poor quality....especially compared to black TV programming of yesteryear, which was nothing short of genius.

sanford and son was actually based on a british sitcpom about a couple of people that onwed a junkard called steptoe and son. :)

Ok. and to be serious: do TV's sold to white people in the US have a special device that stops people watching BET? cos unless they do, how is it racist?

Im the first to admit, there have been TV shows Ive seen which Ive suspected wouldnt have been made if they hadnt been about black people (the crouches: an all black casted uk sitcom. it was utter twoddle. put the S into Hit. I have no doubts the show was only ever made because it was a "black" sitcom. but the important thing is, it just wasnt funny.if it was, i would have kept watching it)

and thats, to me, the most important thing about TV. dont like the channel, dont watch it. as long as it doesnt have a racist editorial policy (ie doesnt pump out a "whitey is bad" message), then who actually cares.

Hmm.. i dont find the BET as racist as something like the MOBO awards, but I do think its just enforcing segregation in some ways. If there was a WET there would be an uproar about how racist it was and how it was run by nazis.

Im not sure about Black history month. On one hand, there are a lot of days and holidays devoted to people and events that I'm not a part of, but on the other its is causing purposeful segregation of events.
I resent how people can say that every month is white history month, because history is history. A lot of black history is important to history in general in the same way, the histories of other cultures and religions is important to history in the same way. it all effects each other like dominos.

Giving black history its pedestal, taking it out of the context of the rest of history is saying that its better and more important than the rest of history.

Its as if people think that Black people don't want to celebrate the history of the world and of the US, but just want to celebrate the parts that black people are in... which is racist.
Is there even a "History month" or "US History month" ?

People need to quit with this WET nonsense. Most programming on American television throughout history has been about white people so of course there is no need for a WET.

There would be no need for a black history month if history was taught realistically in school. It's not.
