Black Man Killed by Cops For Selling CDS

The cops were in the wrong, but would you still be outraged over what happened to Sterling if he touched your children?

What are we talking about?

A high school senior sleeping with a sophmore? Or actual pedophilia?

They should be outrage when anyone is wrongfully killed. If you believe in capital punishment, then it should be carried out. A cop deciding to execute someone, anyone, is not okay and to even suggest it is beyond reason.

I saw the rap sheet thing. That killed my sympathy for this guy. The other one looked like a straight execution though.

It's not about sympathy. It's simply about acknowledging a potential misuse of deadly force. A person doesn't deserve to die simply because of a record.

People always like to bring up past crimes for justification of why someone should be tried, in jail, or dead.

Which is exactly what Slushy is doing. Rewriting the facts to justify a killing. Oh, he was a pedophile (except he wasn't) so it was okay to shoot and kill him despite his being mostly subdued and unable to grab a gun.

What these cops did here was NOT justified. I don't give a **** what Sterling had on his rap sheet.

Exactly. This crap is insane.

BrockTurner gets 6 months in jail for raping a woman and Sterling gets 6 to the chest at point blank range after being restrained and tasered for selling cds. This s*** ain't right.

Did you ever source your claim that Sterling got ahold of his gun and fired off rounds? I haven't seen that reported anywhere else.

It is "interesting" how he ignores anyone who asks about that...

So the body cams "fell off" during the shooting and the surveillance video these cops confiscated got erased.

How is this not a huge deal?

This deserves just as much attention as the shooting itself.

In other news, Apple released an Apple patch that allows the police to shut down phones recording them.

Apple did not release a patch that allows that. They recieved a patent that could possibly allow cameras to be disabled in certain locations (such as theaters or places where no photography is allowed). It doesn't exist. Deceptive and exaggerated claims like that myth only make the truth harder to discern.

The video of the encounter being "erased" on the other hand I have not seen reliably reported yet. There was one claim it was confiscated without a warrant (highly illegal) but not it was erased.

Okay, so it's a patent that could possibly be exploited by the police to hide wrongdoing.

Thanks for the correction but I'm still glad I brought it up.

Still, the body cams "falling off" and the video being illegally obtained deserves more media attention.

That part does. The bodycams have been mentioned repeatedly in the news. However the part where they illegally confiscated the video has not.

Let's be honest, if Sterling was white, this would have never made the news. He was a violent felon, and a convicted sex offender.

He was resisting arrest, while armed and on probation. I mean, again ideally, the cops should have taken him alive, but let's keep perspective here.

Yes the perspective that he was on the floor, restrained, with two officers on top of him. But yeah, let's keep bringing up his past crimes. Those are relevant to the situation.

Not fully restrained. And the video doesn't show all of it.

You don't think it's relevant that the person involved has a history of being violent, and resisting arrest? Or the fact that they are illegally armed, and if apprehended, will likely get a very long jail sentence? You don't think that influenced their mindset at the time of the crime?

Don't be ridiculous. What does his past history have to do with it? The man was tazed, was restrained by 2 cops on top of him and still got 5 shots to the chest at close range. There was no need for the cops to murder him. It's ********.

So arrest him and charge him with the crimes. The cops aren't there to play judge, jury and executioner. This isn't the world of Judge Dredd. Is that concept really so hard to grasp?

Mistakes happen. Cops overreact. Though from the videos I saw, it's hard to say what he was doing with his other hand.

I am just not seeing this as a national tragedy.

Armed criminal resisting arrest, this can happen.

Unless the officers knew that before hand, it is of little consequence to the arrest. They were aware that a threat had been made with a gun, that is all. So yes, they would've been a bit jumpy of a gun. But I highly doubt they were aware of his past.

So, Baton Rouge sounds like a s***show right now...

Don't think so. Sounds like the police are antagonizing/arresting protestors.
