Fresno police video shows shooting of unarmed suspect

as a disclaimer. I supported the police actions in this case, up until they shot the guy while he was on the ground; in pain. they showed a considerable amount of restraint for dealing with a, speculatively, suicidal individual. a taser probably would have come in handy, in this situation. I have no idea why they pulled the guy over, though.

Ah, so you wanna have it both ways.

No no no. I don't care that this dude was shot and I don't care 99% of the time because it's usually justifiable. I merely point out the hypocrisy with people. Why won't people outrage over this dude? (That's a rhetorical question).

What's the hypocrisy?

because you "don't care that this dude was shot."

^the answer's somewhere in there.

What's the hypocrisy?

Public outrage at black shooting deaths by cops. No one cares when it's any other color person. Look at the last 2 years. Most of these are justifiable death by cop but that goes out the window when skin color is involved.

Alton Sterling actually had a gun and this dude didn't. That's the hypocrisy.

Doesn't sound like hypocrisy to me. Of the handful of stories that actually make national news like the Sterling and Castile shootings, those have been incidents where the person didn't do anything to warrant the use of lethal force nor crimes that warranted their deaths right then and there. Not every case is going to get a protest.

There is of course the matter of the Black Lives Matter movement. People ignore and/or don't understand the context of the saying and why it focuses on Black people. I mean, if you're looking for people to have some uproar over this Fresno shooting, you should go ask the AllLivesMatter people what they want to see done about it because they damn sure don't care about Black lives. The common example used is cancer. It would be like going to a breast cancer marathon or clinic and saying that other cancers are important. Yeah, that's true, but those people are focusing on something in particular that interests, affects, etc. them and those around them.

Alton Sterling wasn't using that gun on the cops. So, there's that.

Sterling had a gun on him, which the police knew because they were responding to a gun threat call on him, and he wasn't complying and was rolling around with the hand down his side where the gun was located. Of course he's getting shot. The public outrages. This dude, who didn't have a gun, didn't comply and kept reaching behind his back. No one cares he gets shot. They both were idiots responsible for their own deaths. Don't feel sorry for the guy that gets mauled for poking a bear with a stick.

As for your example: If the media only focused on cancers affecting a certain race, marginalizing everyone else that gets the exact same cancer...then that would be an apt comparison.

Witnesses say Sterling wasn't going for the gun and he wasn't causing trouble in the first place. He got killed. There's uproar. Noble didn't comply with their directions and very much acted like he had something planned. There's uproar as well. One story may get more coverage or uproar, but they both do/did.

Well, that's the media and they want the ratings. They can talk about whatever stories they want. They're not the people actually talking about it or trying to have changes made. If they don't want to show the various protests and whatnot that go on, that's on them. But, there are still going to be protests regardless. And these are protests for people who didn't do anything that warranted lethal force. Not those who've actually used weapons on cops.

Anyway, if you don't care about it, why bother talking about it?

This had to be suicide by cop. How stupid can you be? I would have shot him too.

Although the follow up shots when he was on the deck, clearly incapacitated, we're a bit much.
