Its simple, just use his original mask and don't have the mask get burnt on to his face until the end.

We assume he is dead. Nobody actually say he's dead but they do with how the scene was filmed. It wouldnt be a very good twist if he turns out too be alive.
no gordon says that he killed 5 people. Maroni his diver and and body guard were all killed.

hes dead deal with it

:unishr:That Black Mask manipulation is freakin awesome.

I just don't get the appeal of Black Mask in this franchise as a big villain. In every story I've read that Doug MOench didn't write...he's literally just about taking over the mob and getting all the other freaks (most of whom don't apparently exist yet in this franchise) to work for him, to what...prove he's the best freak of all? I'm fine if he's a supporting character to show the evolution of the mob.

I can't decide whether I want him as a freak crime-boss, leading the mob, or as a corrupt CEO who represents a dark mirror of Bruce Wayne. I'm not sure he can be both.

What do you think?

I think he could be both. The mob's gonna be needing new leadership to elevate their game, so having a high-powered, prestigious backer like a corrupt CEO could be the next step. And privately, he's far scarier and more sadistic than most of them, so I could easily see him pulling the strings behind closed doors.

 I could get behind this for sure.

I personally think the character lends himself to another, potentially, notable performance, much more so than the Riddler or Deadshot.

I prefer the earlier versions, where he was Leading the False Face Society and attacking upscale Gothamites & Wayne execs. Sitting in seclusion talking to his mannequin, jittery and paranoid, just being a complete psycho, but in a different way from the Joker, is where they could take it. Using his particular methods of torture and intimidation, Black Mask could be quite frightening, and it seems Nolan likes his villains that way.

While the animated movie Under the Red Hood still had his quirky undertones, a strong actor could take that and run with it, truly creating somebody sinister, conniving, threatening and powerful.

I like Black Mask as a character with a fortune at his disposal, much like Wayne, but who chooses to use it for evil, whereas Bruce uses his to fight for justice. Even his parents' mansion burning down is a parallel to Wayne's past, as his family's mansion was burned to the ground in Batman Begins. This could set up a very interesting film for Nolan. Sionis could be targeting Wayne Enterprises, unaware of Bruce Wayne's secret life. Maybe he hires Deadshot to hunt down The Batman in the meantime.

As far as the mask itself, I don't know why a simple black ski mask wouldn't work. The skull would be hokey, and I don't want to see something a slasher flick villain would wear. I know the Greek-inspired masks and tribal designs have gotten some love lately, and might work.

I really hope that Black Mask is who Tom Hardy is playing. He's perfect for the role.

I think whoever first picked Viggo Mortensen was dead on. I'm horrible with casting characters so I think Mortensen, Owen and and Strong could easily pull it off for all I know.

Joaquin Phoenix is my ideal choice, especially with how he worked the fall to insanity of Commodus in Gladiator (see the Extended Edition - his scenes are amazing).

But considering Hardy was cast, we is also an excellent actor to play Black Mask (assuming Black Mask will even be used at all).

Yeah, Phoenix screams Black Mask to me, Hardy too.

I dunno about Viggo..

Black Mask seems to me would be the ideal & most obvious choice for a villain in the 3rd film

with Maroni, Falcone, and most other mob bosses out of commision thanks in large part to the Joker, i can definately see Sionis jumping in and using his fortune to take control of the crime world

on top of that, he would be a rival to Wayne in regards to the business world

Not only that, but he bridges the gap, a cross between the mobsters of the old guard, and the rising freaks

I can also see Edward Norton portraying a solid Sionis/Black Mask.

Top actors for the role of Roman Sionis/Black Mask potentially:

Leo DiCaprio
Edward Norton
Viggo Mortensen
Matt Damon

Out of these actors....I think Viggo would be an AMAZING Sionis/Black Mask. He can be suave and also down right creepy.

This is of course if Hardy is not going to be play him.
