Any fans of black metal or metal in general
And whats your favourite bands and their best albums?

Off the top of my head, here's some favs:

Blut Aus Nord- The Work Which Transforms God
Immortal- Sons of Northern Darkness/At the Heart of Winter
Gorgoroth- Twilight of the Idols
Mayhem- Ordo and Chao
Leviathan- Scar Sighted
Kvelertak- s/t
Samael- Passage

I'm not a huge listener of black metal compared to other extreme metal genres, but I did listen to bands like Behemoth, Rotting Christ and Darkthrone back then.

Nowadays, I prefer the atmospheric/folk side of BM especially the American sound. Agalloch, Wayfarer and Wolves in the Throne Room are my "go-to" bands. Primordial is also a favorite of mine. Honorable mentions to Harakiri For the Sky and Alcest.

Mgla is a band I quite enjoyed but dropped them as soon as I heard they are linked to the far-right movement and NSBM...

Back to say I saw Deafheaven live about 5 years ago. I know lots of folks say they ain't black metal (see: humorless gatekeepers).

They were like getting hit by a tidal wave. I like the albums, but live, TOTALLY DIFFERENT. It was overwhelming. It was lysergic. It was absolutely magnificent.

I love a few of those bands that "TRV" black metal fans would scoff at because they blend black metal with other styles.

Agalloch is close to my heart and I feel bad they split. Saw them live a few times at least and that was great. Ashes Against the Grain and The Mantle are both 5/5 albums IMO.

Vektor is another great band, mixing black metal with thrash metal with some neat sci-fi concepts.

Deafheaven for sure, been a fan since Sunbather came out. That's another 5/5 album to me.

Alcest as well, they are more on the melodic side but still have some screams and heavy guitars.
