Blade 2 Question

Okay I recently watched the film, and I don't know if anyone else has ever had this on their mind...

When Nomak attacks the drug dealer...just what is it that he pulls out and sucks blood from? Is it supposed to be the dude's eye?

That was what I was thinking, but taking a closer look the thing looks plastic...so I just don't know...

I think it was to illustrate what fiends the Reapers are; they're such fierce addicts they can't stand to let even a little drop of blood go to waste.

In that regard, though, they could have had him lick the blood off the car & it would've had the same effect.
