It really funny how I was just thinking about New Line Cinema's Blade comic book adaptation and how it really is already outdated. I know it's not even that old, but watching it now it just doesn't have that same effect on me that it used to. So when I received the following e-mail I can say I wasn't that surprised. B-D reader 'Marlowe' drops is a line with some unconfirmed news claiming that there's a reboot of the Blade franchise in the works. He explains that it's something that the comic property wants, not necessarily New Line Cinema (who might not even be involved.) Who knows how true this is or why they're doing it, but our reader is guessing it's because of the whole 30 Days of Night craze or maybe the Hulk re-launch too. Watch for any official word as it comes in and remember, this is a RUMOR until confirmed. Why don't you guys chime in below, what do you think?

I'm a member on the board over there and this particular user has been accurate and given me information well in advance before... back when comic book film sources were still reporting about a sequel to Hulk, he knew Marvel wanted to re-boot it, also knew the same about Punisher.. I've never seen him report something false... but like the article says - treat it as a rumor for now. Other sources were starting to pick up on this, so I guess we can discuss here now as well.

Any chance for Blade is nice--will wait until I find out if it's true or if said reboot will be good to put my opinion in, though.

For those of us with contacts at Marvel, you should start working...

I don't know anyone at New Line.. anyone know anyone there who wants to start asking????

Good find, Troma. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out.

I wonder if Goyer and/or Snipes will somehow play an influence in the reboot.

I wish they'd do one more with Snipes and Del Toro first and then restart the franchise from it's origin with a younger Blade. THey already have that futuristic Vampire apocalypse script ready. That's the ONLY way to do it. Unless they have some sort of Blade Max idea. :)

I'm really starting to hate the word "reboot."

I dont care just give me more blade!! (only if its decent though)

If it's a "retooling" of the already existing Blade franchise, then yes. Most definitely.

If you absoloutely had to recast Blade (which sucks) who would you choose? For a younger Blade and one of the same age as Snipes.

Damn I want Snipes back.

I don't know who I'd pick, but what I do know is it would be someone who, while good, would approach Blade in a totally different way than Snipes did. If you get someone who's just trying to be an imitation then the best they can ever possibly be is only AS good as the person they're imitating. I went someone with the potential to be even better and be able to stand out on their own terms.

Hopefully it's Snipes...if not then it needs to be a young unknown with fluid martial arts skills. TJ Storm?

Man TJ Storm is gonna love the free publicity we are giving him AD...

LOL I know but that's where I first heard his name on these boards when the TV series was first being talked about. Him and Jai White.

That script and the review I saw of it a while back were so positive, but the studio thought it would be too expensive and bleak...

And the reality is, it seems a lot of people hate the more bleak ending to Blade III that we got for the DVD - ironic.... maybe they got something right?

All that being said, I still want that film to be made.

Chiwetel Ejiofor from Serenity perhaps??? I've been told he has been tossed around for Black Panther recently...

I really hope they bring Blade back. It would be cool if Snipes got one more movie or they asked his advice on how to proceed with the character, but I doubt that would happen.

I would still like to see Michael Jai White get a crack at the role. Plus there is Kirk Jones-the last onscreen Blade. With a little tweaking, I think he could be an alright guy to build movies around, so long as they don't overshadow him like they did in Blade the Series.

They had their chance at the reboot with that crappy TV series. They failed.

I don't get where all this fandom and love for Jai White comes from. He's not that good! Spawn was a terrible movie.

There is a difference between TV and Film though. I'm not calling for White. I'd rather have someone who can act.

And do what exactly? The last movie only came out less than 3 years ago. They just did the series. So they did three movies and a TV series. What else can they really do? The franchise died with the third movie, the series failed to revive it.

There's not much else to do with Blade right now. You can play as him in Ultimate Alliance or Friend or Foe though.

Do we really need a Blade re-boot though? I am a huge fan of the first 2 movies, i adore them, but this re-boot thing just doesnt appealing to me, i would rather have a Blade 4 that finishes the series in a way Blade 3 couldnt manage.
