Lol ARRVAL got nominated for Best Editing at the Oscars and Joe Walker ( Editor) won the ACE Awards for Editing Arrival .Which is basically the Editing world's OScars. http://variety.com/2017/artisans/in...ace-eddie-awards-for-film-editing-1201971808/

Well I never said he was bad, I just wasn't blown away by any particular aspect of arrival. It was good..but it's not something I would obsess over in the same way I have other movies. I haven't watched it in a while, and I don't really feel like its the type of movie i'd rewatch yearly. Joe Walker is also editing BR 2049 so i've got nothing against him, if anything I hope he does a good job.

Oh I gotcha! Just found it weird criticising a movies editing when in fact it got recognised for the very same thing. But I digress. Confident Denis and Joe will get the movie into good shape.

I honestly didn't like Arrival as much as other people did, I thought it was good but not quite my type of movie. First contact movies don't do anything for me anymore, i'm just not as fascinated by the idea of extraterrestrials as I once was. I also thought the movie was edited weird. I definitely didn't like it as much as his three previous movies. I do expect Goslings character to be introverted and quiet, not too far off from his performance in Drive. I don't think he'll be as expressionless as OGF though.

I think Goslings character will go through the world and go on this noir detective story to find Deckard. And along the way the other characters are the ones who are the talkers and bring interest/charisma to it. And Goslings character is like who we are seeing the world through. And don't forget the rumors about the little deformed boy who follows him everywhere. I wonder if they'll cut him out to trim down the runtime.

I think I can live with that, as long as there is charisma and energy coming from somewhere.

Saw the trailer again last night, not sure if I ever commented on it, I think the film is shaping up to be a quality companion piece to the 1982 classic, the aethetic and atmosphere matches up while still feeling contempary if that makes sense. It also looks like those hovercar's are going to see a bit more aciton this time around. :D

As a director to me he feels more like Nolan than it does early Scott, minus perhaps some of the simpler exposition Nolan has to include in mainstream films but generally more plot heavy.

Early Scott was basically a less cynical Kubrik, the Duelists, Alien and Blade Runner are not plot heavy films at all, there artful atmospheric character studies.

I think mr deckard is gonna beat him bloody

I was hoping to see Harrison in another cool jacket. Better than that hanes tshirt.

he does wear one at some point, but it's not the 80s noir-future look a lot of people were hoping for. Though it does seem to match the more modern minimalist contemporary look the film is going for. I'm not as bothered by the shirt as everyone else, though i'm sure the hanes ash grey is going to see a slight increase in sales :sus

I'm tempted to pick up the july empire magazine but if that is the only new image in it...probably not worth the money.

It's sort of funny that Ford's costume is so ordinary here. I mean, in a lot of these movies, when the new, young hero finds the mysterious old hero (like Rey finding Luke in TFA), the old hero is dressed in some elaborate garb that exemplifies his or her importance. Yet here is Deckard, dressed like he shops at Wal-Mart 2049.

Maybe Wal-Mart is super classy in the future!

Impressive. Some practical shots looked super-digital. Dunno how they achieved that. Perhaps color grading.

Wow, some real great stuff in this footage. Hoeks character says to deckard that shes taking him "home" which implies he's a replicant...if shes taking him to the old tyrell building...god I hope this movie is nice and long and none of this amazing stuff gets cut.

Love that fan poster ,Seen it knocking around for the last month or so.

I didn't know Freeman was in this. Is that Morgan Freeman?
