Blade Runner 2049 - Part 1

Johannsson seems to be open to using Vangelis' themes, but in his most recent interview, he hasn't said anything concrete other than him sending demos to Villeneuve and saying repeatedly how he loves the first movie and the score.

I really like what Johannsson said there.
It has to be music that exists in the world of Blade Runner, but it’s Blade Runner thirty years later. It’s not a remake, it’s a sequel, so a lot of time has passed and things have changed. I think that will be reflected in all elements of the score and the film.
Looks like it will be a mixture of old and new, which I think is the best approach. I wonder if they'll reuse some motifs and melodies, or just the sound palette.
And I very much appreciate that, it seems, he is genuinely concerned about the result, that it's not just another film in the row for him.
Oh, but it's still 10 months away.

And I'm so pumped right now.

I suspect the only reason Arrival wasn't R was because the subject matter didn't really warrant it.

Saw some people say they aren't really into "Blade Runner", but are excited to see this. I know Warner Bros. will be stoked to see that, as that's got to be the goal, but I don't understand it.

The original is one of the best movies of all time. Watch it again.

Well the trailer sure was nice. That Vangelis music at the end. :hmr:

Whats the best version to watch?
Final Cut all the way! It's the only version of the movie that is worth watching, in my humble opinion. It's definitely an improvement over the original cut.

LOVE hearing about the R rating! Great news!

On the other hand, this talk of more possible sequels...

I'm really excited about this one even though I thought the original could have been much better. I've seen the original three times, it has it's moments, score is great, but overall, around 6 or 7/10 maybe?

I'll watch it again just because I'd like to know whether I'll appreciate it more or not trying to watch it with different mind-set.

Ford is looking like, "****ing afternoon photoshoots, I'm missing Inside Edition."

TBF, that attitude kind of fits the character of Rick Deckard. And probably even more so after 35 years when he's older and even more cynical.

Ford has always been the usual professional. He was like that in his mid twenties for the SW films too, I don't think he's ever been the guy to buy into the hype of the acting profession.

If they (Alcon Entertainment) who control the rights to the universe listen to Sir Ridley then they won't. He doesn't want more movies as an expansion to this universe other than this new movie. He want's it done with more graphic novels/comics etc.

Sir Ridley is also the guy who wants to make like 5 Alien prequels. So I don't know that they should listen to him too much. Especially since his track record of the last 5+ years or so has been, spotty, at best.

That's Alien though. A different movie altogether. What he feels about Alien shouldn't matter on how he feels about the Blade Runner universe.

Count me in that category. :)

I've seen it twice, the theatrical cut, and the director's cut but have yet to see the Final Cut which you fine gents seem to recommened.

Everything about Bladerunner seems in my wheelhouse, dark, atmospheric, sci-fi noir and an amazing soundtrack but the movie just didn't resonate with me. I think it was just a little too slow paced for me, I don't mind slow paced movies but Ford's charisma was missing in his performance and I think I felt it a lot more because of that. I'm HOPING seeing it a third time and really sitting down letting myself get sucked into it I'll be able to appreciate it more.
