In all seriousness though, I'm looking forward to hopefully seeing some of that footage they showed of Leto in BR2049 at Cinemacon in the new trailer tomorrow. Apparently he was extremely creepy in the role.

I'm hoping we also get a glimpse at Bautista in whatever role he's playing too.

Seeing the leto footage was one of the things I was looking forward to. And a glimpse at replicant creation. Hopefully the trailer uses music from the movie cause the announcement trailer hit all the right marks. And a huge shift of marketing to make it all actioney and chaotic would suck hard.

The tone would be interesting because I can see more action in the sequel, but perhaps, pacing would be less...sleepy. Which was a plus and a negative for me with the first Blade Runner. And I can tolerate slow burns.

Plus it helps it differentiate it from the first film. Kind of like how the first two Alien films have a different pace and genre but still stick to the elements that make them fundamental, e.g. horror with Alien and mystery with Blade Runner.

This seems almost like a conspiracy film. Conspiracies aren't the slowest type of movies in the world.

But I'm very excited for this trailer. This might be my most anticipated film of the year for me.

You wouldn't get Denis Villeneuve to direct if you just wanted run of the mill action packed movie. There's numerous directors who could just do that.

I know Blade Runner is one of the most iconic and influential sci-fi films of all time, but it still put me to sleep the first couple times I tried watching it. I hope this film keeps the visual flare of the original but has more of a pulse.

The original is a mood piece. Not as much concerned with driving plot and deep characters as it is with atmosphere and world building through visuals. It's hypnotic to me but I don't begrudge anyone for not being as into it. I was fortunate in that I saw the director's cut first when I was an impressionable teenager. It just left a mark on me.

Yeah, I agree with that and I understand why so many people love it. I do think it's a good movie and an important one but I can't help it... I like my futuristic sci-fi movies to be action packed. And I think it's possible to put more action in Blade Runner 2049 without it feeling generic.

I'd feel a lot better if cliff martinez was doing the score. Johann Johannsonns music has always struck me as complimentary to the films hes done but never stepped above that. Whereas cliff has done some really powerful synth and crystal bachet tracks that stand way above anything JJ has done. JJ and Denis have collaborated numerous times so I feel like Denis picked him because he felt comfortable doing so. Denis and Johannsson work together like Cliff and Nicolas Winding Refn. Except I feel the latter is a better duo by far.

I kind of feel Johannsson might not have been up to this because you can't get away with generic hollywood orchestral sounds. And thats why bloch is composing some music for it instead....as evidenced by the performance of ks horse.
