I do agree with Doctor Jones' point about how they should take this opportunity to make this new BR more...accessible. And when I say accessible I do not mean turn it into a generic mainstream blockbuster film, I simply mean make it more tangible and accessible for people to get into. This could be a really cool, dark sci-fi noir, a melding of Arrival and Prisoners, if you will. That's why I think Villaneuve is perfect for this, he knows how to make deliberately paced films but you're never bored throughout his movies because he's so good at building tension and building characters.
I think it'll hit a decent middle ground because, I'll say it again - I think Blade Runner is an acquired taste. I really do. You'd have to be a film fan, or at least appreciate the things it was trying to do, to enjoy or grasp it.
Denis is a smart, smart director and a dude who has a very specific vision.
Like I said, it was referring to the mentality of directors like Gareth Edwards in how they approach a beloved property vs someone like Villenueve. I guess some people thought it was aimed at them because I had a negative and harsh thing to say about a Star Wars movie, and that somehow is an insult against them.
