Filling holes in story with online short movies directed by Luke Scott?

Getting bad flashbacks to Covenant over here.

Denis said that he asked a couple of filmmakers
Scott is probably one of them.
Not the only one.

Meh, I wouldn't get too worried yet. This is just like a new thing they're doing for these kind of movies now. Even if these suck they were directed by someone else and made by the 3AM studios people.

My only issue is these short films slightly fall short of the production values of the actual movie. The soundtrack placement and way this is assembled feels kind of like a fan film in a way. Regardless it's not bad and it's cool to get some insight on whats been going on during the past 30 or so years.

Interested to see what the other 2 clips are about...looking at the other events on the roadto2049 site may give a clue.

Also bautistas eye at 47 seconds in...

I just hate this trend of doing tie-ins. A movie should stand on its own. Hopefully it won't be like Alien Covenant where the viral with Fassbender and Rapace had better story than actual movie

Also if this takes place in 2036 and this is a new replicant (Nexus 9) then why does his eye say NX-8? Seems like an oversight or something to me. The Nexus 8s were rushed onto the market by the Tyrell corporation and were basically being hunted down at that time.

I really hope all this 'Leto cannot act' nonsense dies down after this movie

It seems that the the run-time for BR2049 is 163 mins:

It seems the goal was to make Leto's character seem unnatural and almost inhuman.

Leto is a great actor and looks solid in this role. Wish his Joker was more like this.

The short film didn't dissolve my fears. He's super-unnatural in the role.

Yeah I think that was the goal here. I saw almost all of his films and I don't remember seeing him like this before

Unnatural in a sense "unconvincing". He just looks like he tries too hard. Not as hard as in Oscar-winning Suicide Squad, but still...

Really? I loved his performance in the short film. Effective, intense and creepy. I can't wait to see what he does in the actual film.

Phillip K. Dick's noir stuff was never known for its slam bang action sequences. :o

Aye, it's a Phillip Marlowe noir thriller with a sci-fi tilt when all said and done, but done brilliantly IMO.

Daniel Day-Lewis is a great actor. Denzel Washington is a great actor. Meryl Streep is a great actor. Christian Bale is a great actor. Juliette Binoche is a great actor. Leto is definitely an actor. I can say that.

Requiem for a Dream, Dallas Buyers Club would be two that suggest you are spot on, ridiculous what some are saying.
Have you seen Alexander and Suicide Squad? Leto is someone who is only as good as the material and director make him. He does not exceed it, nor can he make something poor, interesting. He is best in minimalist roles. Not when he is trying to be something more, like the Joker. Though now I wonder if he is now Mr. Artist to the point that he is going to try and do his Joker thing here to. The 14 year old being creepy and mysterious, as opposed to the 14 year old trying to be crazy.

Can't that be said for the majority of talent ?

Awesome. Thanks for sharing that.

I wouldn't claim the majority of actors are great. The telling thing about Leto is people go back to Requiem for A Dream for props. Like that wasn't 17 years ago.

It's always so much fun when people come to a thread to cry about people crying about an actor, when no one is crying about him. It's almost like some are sensitive about Leto being a rather **** Joker.

If anyone doesn't want to hear people complain about Leto around here, I'd just stop bringing up people complaining about him. It is basically going into the bathroom, turning off the lights, and saying Biggie Smalls three times. This is a Superhero movie forum. We all know what his biggest role is, and we all know how that went.
