The obvious error here is comparing Jared Leto to Daniel Day-Lewis.

Leto seems determined to remain a laughing stock

Leto rarely talks about his acting methods, so this is really the fault of everyone else setting him up for the spotlight and fall.
Why nervous? It's true.Nevermind Leto, that is complete cringe juice from Villeneuve.![]()
He does it so they talk about it. He loves to talk about it himself. He has done things to cast members, for the attention. He is there, talking about it in the article.Yup.
Leto, for his part, played down his decision. I didnt dive as deep down the rabbit hole as maybe Ive done before, he said, adding that he wasnt deluded to think he was actually blind. Im crazy, but Im not insane.
Villeneuve is the one crying. Lawd.

Denis isn't without a sense of humor though, if the interview were a video i'd bet he had a real dumb grin on his face while saying all of that. Didn't he even joke about sending Harrison voiceover work for the new movie?
As far as Leto goes it's almost like people want to see him screw up. This isn't really over the top to me, I mean if you want to convincingly play a blind person you should probably have some idea of what it's like to function as a blind person. As opposed to just reading about it or imagining what it's like and then winging it. If this gets worse for him then he might need to stop doing interviews regarding his acting period. At a certain point you have to realize you're making yourself an easy target for abuse. Just tell folks you're under an NDA, can't discuss it, but I had a good time doing it..the end.

I wonder what Ayer will think when he hears this !Villeneuve: He entered the room, and he could not see at all. He was walking with an assistant, very slowly. It was like seeing Jesus walking into a temple. Everybody became super silent, and there was a kind of sacred moment. Everyone was in awe. It was so beautiful and powerfulI was moved to tears. And that was just a camera test!

I don't want Leto to screw up. I want BR49 to be one of the best sequels ever. But so far it looks like Leto is screwing up. I'm not terribly interested in his method crap as long as results are good. But the result in this particular case doesn't look good.
It feels like Leto is BO charm for WB at the moment and they forced him on Villeneuve along making him praise Leto the same way as Ayer did.
How did WB force Leto on Villeneuve?

Indeed, I haven't read something this ridiculous in a while

I didn't say Leto will ruin the film, nor his performance is as bad as in Oscar-winning Suicide Squad. It's just he looks pretty subpar so far and it really contrasts with the aura they try to create around Leto. That's where cringe comes from. As I said earlier, Leto isn't the only one who doesn't demonstrate convincing acting, judging by the trailers.I don't think in any way Leto will ruin this movie. The way it's looking he won't even be in it that much. And the performance itself, from what has been released, doesn't look very cringe-inducing. Unlike, say, his Joker performance, which was miles over the top.
Sorry to hear that, but Zimmer will do a good job.
