The obvious error here is comparing Jared Leto to Daniel Day-Lewis.

That was kind of a weird clip to release, but at least it's rather non spoilery...so that's a plus I guess. Seems pretty ominous in terms of the sound. And i'm glad this movie isn't going to have blaring music throughout..that should be more selectively placed. Nice to see some footage that isn't overlaid with that damn bombastic trailer music.

Leto rarely talks about his acting methods, so this is really the fault of everyone else setting him up for the spotlight and fall.

Yup.

Leto, for his part, played down his decision. “I didn’t dive as deep down the rabbit hole as maybe I’ve done before,” he said, adding that he wasn’t deluded to think he was actually blind. “I’m crazy, but I’m not insane.”

Villeneuve is the one crying. Lawd.

Denis isn't without a sense of humor though, if the interview were a video i'd bet he had a real dumb grin on his face while saying all of that. Didn't he even joke about sending Harrison voiceover work for the new movie?

As far as Leto goes it's almost like people want to see him screw up. This isn't really over the top to me, I mean if you want to convincingly play a blind person you should probably have some idea of what it's like to function as a blind person. As opposed to just reading about it or imagining what it's like and then winging it. If this gets worse for him then he might need to stop doing interviews regarding his acting period. At a certain point you have to realize you're making yourself an easy target for abuse. Just tell folks you're under an NDA, can't discuss it, but I had a good time doing it..the end.

He does it so they talk about it. He loves to talk about it himself. He has done things to cast members, for the attention. He is there, talking about it in the article. :lmao:

I don't want Leto to screw up. I want BR49 to be one of the best sequels ever. But so far it looks like Leto is screwing up. I'm not terribly interested in his method crap as long as results are good. But the result in this particular case doesn't look good.

It feels like Leto is BO charm for WB at the moment and they forced him on Villeneuve along making him praise Leto the same way as Ayer did.

No doubt, however maybe you know, do it at home, walking around set with a handler where everyone can see you is a crave for attention imo.

I think Leto is passionate about his craft and genuinely wants to do the best he possibly can.

The problem is it seems like he wants everyone to know that. He wants to disappear into a character... yet he wants everyone to know it's him disappearing, so to speak. Which kinda defeats the purpose of method acting.

It's nice that Leto is admitting that much. :o

Yup. :oldrazz:

Villeneuve: He entered the room, and he could not see at all. He was walking with an assistant, very slowly. It was like seeing Jesus walking into a temple. Everybody became super silent, and there was a kind of sacred moment. Everyone was in awe. It was so beautiful and powerful—I was moved to tears. And that was just a camera test!
I wonder what Ayer will think when he hears this ! :funny:

How did WB force Leto on Villeneuve?

Judging by how similar this is to what people mentioned when he was involved in Suicide Squad Leto is a narcissist of epic proportion.

another tv spot from Sony, only a few new shots in there. Mostly cool ones of the spinners.

I don't think in any way Leto will ruin this movie. The way it's looking he won't even be in it that much. And the performance itself, from what has been released, doesn't look very cringe-inducing. Unlike, say, his Joker performance, which was miles over the top.

I didn't say Leto will ruin the film, nor his performance is as bad as in Oscar-winning Suicide Squad. It's just he looks pretty subpar so far and it really contrasts with the aura they try to create around Leto. That's where cringe comes from. As I said earlier, Leto isn't the only one who doesn't demonstrate convincing acting, judging by the trailers.
