When will the third short film be released?

Blade Runner 2049’s third and final prequel short film, an anime from Cowboy Bebop director Shinichirô Watanabe, will be exclusive to Crunchyroll. The anime will exist as part of Crunchyroll’s free service, meaning you won’t need a subscription to watch.

This is a departure from the first two Blade Runner 2049 short films, which focused on Jared Leto’s Niander Wallace and Dave Bautista’s Sapper, and were uploaded to YouTube. The third short, “Blade Runner: Black Out 2022,” is set just a few years after the events of the first Blade Runner movie and 27 years before the sequel. 2022 marks the year that an “EMP detonation caused a global blackout that has massive, destructive implications all over the world.”

Warner Bros. teased a look at the third prequel short last week, which included concept art and a brief glimpse at how it all came together. “Blade Runner: Black Out 2022” will be released on Sept. 29 at 7:49 a.m. ET.

I bought my tickets for the opening night! Can't wait. It looks so beautiful and hopefully it's as good as the original...

I don't disagree with the sentiment. Censors tend to be okay with gratuitous violence over anything sexual or some rather tame nudity. But those are the Hype rules and we have to follow them.

I understand why the Hype doesn't want it as it could lead down to a rough path but it always bugs me that a film can have a whole lot of killing/violence and be PG-13 but the briefest bit of nudity can send it to the R rating rather fast.

Who is the person on the bottom row, 2nd from the right? Is that Sean Young? I will say, I hate the poster designs for this. I know painted posters aren't a thing anymore but it'd be nice if they went something more in that vein.

Something like this:

BladeRunner2049 Won’t Have a Director’s Cut, Says Denis Villeneuve http://bit.ly/2y0CbBA

Eight different versions of “Blade Runner” have been shown in one form or another, five of which are well known: the workprint, the theatrical cut, the international cut, the director’s cut, and the final cut. In a new interview with Europe Plus, Denis Villeneuve says that “Blade Runner 2049” won’t be so complicated — there will be no director’s cut, he explains, because the version arriving in theaters next month is the director’s cut.

“The thing is, the movie you’re going to see is the director’s cut,” says Villeneuve, who most recently directed “Arrival” and “Sicario.” “There will be no further…maybe there’ll be a ‘studio version’ [laughs], maybe a producer version, but not a director’s version. That’s my director’s cut.

So I don’t think there will be further versions. If there are alternate versions, they’re not from me.”

BLADE RUNNER 2049 social media embargo ends this Tuesday. Tight restriction on plot reveals, but ayyyyyy

and the review embargo lifts on Monday Oct. 2 [9 AM EST]

Sigh....I hate to back him, but Jason is legit. He is an annoying bastah in person.

Early embargo lift isn't it?

I don't know anything about this cat. Does this seem like he's alluding to something positive or negative?

The earlier an embargo lifts the more confidence a studio feels about the movie generally. October 6th is the US release date, so a movie like Blade Runner 4 day's out should mean they're pretty confident.

It is definitely a sign of confidence like Fallen said in the post above. Even then it's a WB review embargo strategy so unless it's on Thursday, it's really shouldn't mean much. From this year, both Dunkirk & IT had their review embargo lifted on the Wednesday before release but both turned out to be top class efforts. WB also lifted the embargo date for Annabelle:Creation and Kong:Skull Island much earlier than expected to drum up the pre-release hype for bigger BO receipts.

Noticed yesterday that NOW TV added the first movie on so I thought '**** yeah - lets stick it on'. Now I'd heard all about the voice-over version and about Ford's dislike of doing it [which is why he was drunk most of the time when doing the dialogue] and of his dislike of it in general but I wasn't prepared for just how much I found it so jarring - totally messed up the mood and tone of the movie for me. I actually turned it off and I felt it ruined a lot of what made the movie so good to me.

There's a paywall for the article. :(

Dang, it doesn't work for me. I didn't have a problem the first time tho. Anyway, I actually read the whole thing yesterday and it's basically an article on how the rights issues to produce and distribute the movie were handled/resolved. Plus there were some tidbits on how the Alcon execs (producers) and Ridley Scott are planning more movies set in this universe.

I follow this journo on twitter.

Good news! BLADE RUNNER 2049 is a terrific continuation and expansion of the orig. Wasn't hoping for much, ended up LOVING it. (Even Leto!)

That's all you get outta me for now, even under threat of a Voight-Kampff test. More detailed review soon.
