Blade Runner 2049 - Part 2

Prisoners was edge of a seat experience. It remains my favorite of Villeneuve and I consider it one of the best thrillers of 2010s. But Arrival and Sicario put me in coma indeed.

Prisoners and Sicario had me at the edge of my seat. Arrival was pretty....meh for me.

I thought Sicario flew by. It was a slow burn but the characters were great and it had some genuinely tense sequences.

Both Sicario and Arrival were similar for me in a sense, that they start very strong and then never reach the drama or tension of their respective prologues, imo. They just deflate as they progress.

I'm so completely staggered by Blade Runner 2049 that it's just taken me seven separate attempts to put my coat on afterwards

I mean this as a serious if slightly weird compliment: I feel like I've just seen the last blockbuster ever made.

New Banners released.

Go home, you're drunk.

In my book, just about everything Denis has put out is a masterpiece -- with the exception of Enemy.

I don't think Villeneuve has made a masterpiece yet.

Incendies is pretty much is but it's Foreign so it doesn't get much love with English audiences.

I hope you are not setting yourself up for disappointment. I get the feeling you are expecting Blade Runner 2049 to let you down.

See I think Sicario's finale was amazing. The night vision raid in the tunnels then Alejandro confronting the Cartel boss in his home was brilliant. Even after a few viewings that confrontation at the dinner table has me clenching my jaw.

Then I loved the epilogue with Kate and Alenjandro.

I think it sagged a bit in the middle but overall I was glued to the screen. It's nice to have films that breath and don't rush from scene to scene.

I agree with everything you just said. The ending to Sicario was FANTASTIC and brilliantly shot.

Heck, I love everything in Sicario. I think it's Villeneuve's best film thus far.

Yea it's my favourite of his films. One of my favourite films of this century in actual fact.

I thought Sicario and Arrival were two of the most boring movies I've ever seen (other than smoking hot Emily Blunt). If THAT'S who's directing BR 2049, well, it's time to lower expectations.

LMAO who the heck did you think was directing the movie? His name has been associated with the movie from the very beginning. It's always been 'Denis Villeneuve's Blade Runner". That's what folks have been calling it from the beginning.

For me the first Blade Runner is one boring movie. It’s a beautiful film and the story is good but the movie is pretty damn boring. All of DV have been good to great and he is the only reason I am even going to watch this movie ever. He’s so good I am paying full iMax price.

This one is going to be "slow" and "boring" like the first one. I'm saving you guy's from wasting some of your money and time if that's your opinion of the first movie.

Yeah if you couldn't make it through the original BR, Sicario, or even neo noirs like Chinatown or LA confidential then you probably won't like this.

I'm kind of back and forth on his movies. Love some and dislike others...he's absolutely perfect for Blade Runner though. I couldn't think of a better match for director and franchise.

....what if you loved all of DV's films...but found BR boring? lol
