Blade Runner 2049

Given Ridley's last few films (Robin Hood, Prometheus, The Counselor), sticking him into a producer's role and getting someone else to direct might very well be for the best. Quick, someone get Duncan Jones on the phone.

Jones is too busy with Warcraft with has a heavy post production.

I also wouldn't be opposed to Gareth Edwards. He has shown unusually strong deftness in handling visuals and sound that far surpass most commercial directors and echo Hollywood masters from the 80's. He just has to prove he can do drama as well. Because the human aspect in Godzilla was horrid.

The movie doesn't shoot until 2015 at the earliest. Jones could very well be done by then.

This definitely needs a sensible tight budget with a director such as Duncan Jones. If they let this bloat and be some monstrosity its gonna clash against the original.

So The Force Awakens is about finding Luke, and Blade Runner 2 is about finding Han :o

In contrast, the human aspect in Monsters was great.

Duncan Jones has a passion project film called Mute which he has been planning to make for years. Mute is partly inspired by Blade Runner so perhaps he would be down for directing Blade Runner 2 if he has time or maybe he thinks it could ruin his chances of making Mute if he took the job.

Wow... I thought this project was dead! Villeneuve amped my anticipation for sure.

It would only bum me out if we ever saw this in the trades:

"Jai Courtney joins Blade Runner 2'.

Great director...still on the fence if Blade Runner really even needs a sequel though.

Excellent choice for director. Between this an the Aliens sequel, I feel like I've woken up in the late 80s.

This better have one hell of a script. And if Deckard ends up being a replicant, a lot of people are going to feel cheated.

The prep time for BR2 seems awfully long... filming won't start until summer 2016? Geez.

Nervous about this, but I like the director.
