I liked it but I saw it before the hype. IMO the hype killed this movie. You should still draw a picture of it though.

Ok so it took me around 7 years to check this one out, and damn was it a disappointment. Seriously why the **** did this warrant the "SCARY AS HELL" tagline that lured me into borrowing my friends VHS tape?

The ending wasn't even worth it, when we finally get some gore that stupid Heather refuses to put the camera directly on the shot. I wanted some teeth! Also what happened to the other guy at the end? Did the Blair Witch put his nose in the corner for trespassing

? It just was lame........ did anyone else hate this flick or am I alone?

I didn't like it. I just like the parts where they are arguing with eachother. LOL.

Alot of people at the time thought it was true, it wasn't and I saw this in the theater and I liked it,You have to realize that this was an independant film made by the people who appeared in it,they rented the video equipment and brought it back when they were done.

I liked this movie, but it's a one shot deal, once seen you can't go back again.
I liked the fact no monsters were jumping out, no crazy guy in a mask, it made it easier for your mind to build up the frightening aspect. I think everyone has gone through that at some point, whether it's camping out and hearing noises or hanging in the basement and hearing something. Your mind likes to play tricks on you.

The problem with this is that it was overhyped. If it had remained in small circulation as the independent movie it was supposed to be, then it would not have been as dissappointing. But having critics talking about how great it is, and people saying how scary it is there was too much build up.

It's like Napoleon Dynamite. I hated that movie, everyone kept telling me how great it was but by the time I saw it, it had been built up so much it couldn't be anything else but disappointing. Or with Saw, everyone told me how crappy it was, but after seeing I really enjoyed it, because I was expecting something much worse.

It's all about expectations.

I thought the best part was not showing the witch, it's kinda like Signs, the movie just keeps building more and more tension, with Blair Witch they left everything to the imagination. Signs showed the aliens and that basically killed all the tension the movie built.

The guy at the end ("in time out" as Dog Lips says) - he was like that because part of the story that was told was that the Blair Witch would make the other kids turn their back while she killed their friends one by one. Thats why Heather freaked out when she saw him like that. Pretty nice touch really. Creepy.

I also disliked all the yelling at, and fighting with, each other.

I did like the lil' stick gifts that were left for them to find. And the bloody thing wraped in the shirt... again, not bad, fairly creepy.

may just be one of the smartest films ever released with an incredible marketing strategy that still pumps originality.
as far as horror or fright films go, this is smart one. never exposing the creature/villain that chased them builds a much worse feeling than a man in a hockey mask.

That part was definately freaky (as long as you remember the backstory at that point of the movie) When I saw that I was like oh shiet. Then the camera dropped.

I thought the movie was pretty good, an under dog of a movie like that making MILLIONS world wide the story was pretty cool (if not funny as hell in some parts "WHAT THE HELL IS THAT!!!??" its a tree you silly ***** no go to sleep.

If you check out the pulp fiction dvd a hand held camera is on bruce and he quotes the words "These things are amazing (the camera) one day someone is going to make a movie with one of these things i bet.

It was alright but not the stuff of greatness that people say.

I hope you're not judging all of the horror genre based on some of the crap that's more mainstream. I've been getting more into horror lately, and it has a lot to offer. There's a ton of really great stuff out there.

Well, that's why I said 99.9% Most of the horror genre is represented by low budget gore crap or big budget Hollywood "who's hot at the moment" star-filled cliche fests.

I admit I'm not too knowledgeable about the genre because I've seen so very little that would qualify as good horror. I did like Audition, and think Asian horror has potential.

Alot of people didn't get the ending,In the story a man will be seen standing in a corner in the basement. When she ran down the stairs she saw someone standing in the corner,then got hit in the back of the head and was out cold...was it the blair witch that did it? Was the legend true after all? People that didn't get it,just wrote it off that it sucked. Which it didn't!! If I watched to watch movies that suck,I'd watch an adam sandler movie.

I think Asian horror is the best horror of late. I loved Audition. I like that asian horror has basically no boundries.

I bet half of these people who say it sucks were loving it when it was released.

I thought it was pretty good. Best horror movie in the world? No. In fact, it's far from being the best horror movie in history. However what made it good to me is that it seemed real, it seemed sincere, and you actually began to really believe and wonder if it was a true story or not.

The fact that they didn't show the Blair Witch made it that much more creepier. What you don't see is far more scarier than what you do see. The basic principle of the unknown is exactly that. We don't know what's on the other side, and do we really want to know?

The scariest scene for me was when they heard their friend screaming from somewhere in the night. Imagine being stuck in the forest where its dark, endless maze of trees and bushes, and out of nowhere you hear a scream that basically solidifies that he ran into something inhuman.

The shadows pushing and bumping into the tent? That was creepy.

As a whole I appreciate its originality and the fact that they made a simple horror movie that will remembered forever.

He said it wasn't his fault because they had both just watched Blair Witch. He went on to explain that it was the last video document of some college students who were killed by the spirit of the Blair Witch, it was proof of the supernatural!

and after watching it, an evil presence filled the room and he became posessed by the real-life Blair Witch which forced his hand to kill his beloved girlfriend even though he didn't want to.
