Bodybuilder ambushes suspected bank robber, breaks his ribs

He wasn't stealing from individuals, he was stealing from banks! Taking a life and taking money aren't in the same league. I'm not saying he should get a free pass, but being brutal is something that should be reserved for pricks who inflict pain on others.

He's stealing money from a bank. Banks get their money from other people and have to comprensate those people for their loses. Therefore he is still stealing someone else's money. That money at the bank is portions of other's savings and loan payments, meaning he isn't stealing from the bank he's also stealing from business and customers when he goes in there.

If people didn't invest their money into that bank they'd have no money to loan. Therefore he is stealing someone else's money.

How many people here would have been "gentle" in this situation. I'm sure if it was you taking the robber down, you wouldn't think to yourself, "well I don't want to hurt him, that might hurt hs feelings"... broken ribs don't hurt that bad, been there done that.

Had I taken it upon myself to interject, I would have done whatever I deemed necessary to ensure the criminal couldn't hurt me or anyone within the vicinity...imo the body builder was far from being over-aggressive.....the guy wouldn't succumb....he's damn lucky a broken rib was all he got!!

You can rationalize it any way you want but the jackass was breaking the law, was wanted by the FBI, and deserved what he got. It's only a broken rib. The guy who took him down even said he tried to take him down without hurting him as much as possible. Like I said, if you're strong enough and put someone in a bearhug and hold tight and the struggle too much, it's entirely possible for them to easily break a rib. Laughable that anyone would defend the bank robber for getting caught. If you are doing so, you suck at life.

I've honestly known guys that have robbed people before...yes, they were a-holes that I decided to no longer associate with, but I've known guys on both sides of the law for years. I think some people try too hard to do the Batman/Punisher thing when that's not how it works in real life. I don't like people that act too cocky. You can't stop a bullet with biceps.

Thank you. About 9 years ago my mom's financial institution was robbed. When things went bad the robber pulled out a gun and pistol whipped two of her best friends (co-workersz) leaving them unconcious and bleeding. Luckily my mom wasn't hurt, but regardless it was tramatizing and made it harder to go to work ever since. There's nothing funny about bank robberies. I'm glad that guy was there, and I'm glad he was brave enough to do what he thought was right at the time- whether it was excessive or not.

Yeah, but a robber shouldn't be handled roughly at all, they should really be treated with the upmost respect, since they aren't directly hurting someone. The bodybuilder should have just politely asked him to stay there and wait for the police, that would have been the best way to handle the situation. I'm sure the guy would have stayed, as he was only robbing from a bank and not directly hurting someone, violence was totally unnecessary.

It's k if I suck at life for merely thinking the guy was too rough, it's just I'd have rather read about a prick who dealt pain getting it back. I'm not saying the robber should have got away, I'm saying it was handled in a s**tty way. But I'm right back at once again rationalizing what I think as being too brutal happening because those situation decisions go down in fractions of a second.

Because you know people that were criminals and somehow empathize with him? C'mon, guys, you have to realize that the robber "who isn't hurting anyone" IS hurting them, he's causing them mental anguish. If you've ever been a victim of crime you have to realize that.

You do realize this was the ninth bank he was trying to rob, it's about time someone did something to stop him. By the ninth bank robbery, I think you should lose any type sympathy.
