The Dark Knight BOF: NO Announcements Anytime Soon.

it's the calm before the storm, its just like a general manager giving the coach a vote of confidence before he fires him

imo it is Whalberg, and they are waiting till he wins best supporting actor, so the possible initial negitive reaction from some fans will be quelled

I could have sworn he said the Harvey Dent announcement was coming soon sometime ago...

wow that's quite an assumption. also- "anytime soon" is a little steep, miranda, though i do always appreciate your sleuthing. "at this time" means- well, this time. news could be days to weeks away. don't get depressed everyone. at least not yet.

we can all share a mutual depression if wahlberg lands the role

Eh, I'm cynical. But hey, if it comes next week, you all can laugh at me as much as you want. ;)

why? I think he would be fantastic

he was the best part of a fantastic movie this year in the Departed, and always is very very good in his movies

He can be an intense cop/da like he was in the departed, or he can be a psycopath like he was in fear

great actor, good choice

i would rather have Clive Owen, or Dicaprio, but Whalberg I like

I would be *okay* with Mark - I think he can act, but I dunno...it's the same thing with Leo - it's not an idea that I can get excited about.

IMO, of course.

of course, not everyone has to be thrilled about him, i would be *****ing a storm up of Liev Schrieber got it, but he is kind of a fan favorite, so I would kind of ride alone on that opinion. The dude i responded to just said we can all sink into a depression if its true, and i was like umm nope, wrong

and I don't even think Whalberg is the best, I just dig him as an actor, i like what he has done, and think he would be a good choice, my personal favorite is Clive Owen, but it's looking like that probably won't happen

Agreed about Clive. Guy Pearce is looking iffy as well. :(

I was never sold on Liev. I'm tired of the reasoning that just because someone 'looks' right for a role, they are. Erm, no.

oh totally actually my vendetta against schrieber has nothing to do with how good of an actor he is, imo he is in the same league as Whalberg, out of a 100 scale about an 85, good actor, i just like Whalberg better yadda yadda. My Vendetta against schrieber is folks where wanting him cause he looks just like the Dent from TLH, and its like if we are choosing actors based on appearence then we are just making X-Men again, and kind of actually botching some big desicions (cough cough halley berry imo)

Oh, I don't doubt Liev's talent he's just not Dent to me and Clive looks more like Sale's Dent. But again, IMO. ;)

Agreed about X-Men. Storm should've been Angela Bassett. Feh. I'm sad we'll see James Marsden get the screentime he deserved but that would be going very off-topic.

I guess that means to expect an announcement soon.

I agree about Bassett but she turned the role down.

I hope so.

Lets hope so.

I just remember back during the casting days of Begins and Jett said that Bale was out of the running, and just days later on September 11th 2003 he was announced officially as Batman.

So perhaps Jett is working some reverse psychology here ...

Really? Damn. We could've had a great Storm there.

Heh, I read that bit in the archives. Like I said, I'd love for Dent to be announced tomorrow but intuition says it ain't happening.

Angela Bassett IS Storm. Halle Berry was just a pale imitation.

Of course. And I firmly believe Jett knows as much as who is going to be the next Dent then anyone of us do.

I read somewhere that they went after Iman (Mrs. David Bowie) after Angela Bassesst turned down the part of Storm, but she couldn't do it because she was pregnant at the time.

A shame that they couldn't at least get a true African to portray Storm. I love Halle, but she will never be Storm to me, nor willl those Movies represent the "X-Men" to me.

Oh, gosh, and here my teen heart was beating for sweet little Marky Mark. Darn.

ill always support jett because hes done a lot an dis very dedicated, but at this point in time i think its safe to say he he has no idea whats going on.

he could be right, but he told us he was sure a dent announcement was coming soon back in october.

Wahlberg may end up being my personal choice, the more I think about it.

how come when i threw his name couple of weeks back after seeing invincible everybody said no now some idiot says wahlbergs cast and everybody likes him. what gives:o

The BEST part of the departed!?! wow, my friend. I don't know how you could say that with dicaprio, damon, nicholson and even alec baldwin all giving FAR more memorable and expert performances. and then there's the directing, script, editing...wahlberg was fine, but the BEST?!?

i really don't know how you can call him a great actor. he has no range. departed was his best job, but he's usually just mopey, quiet ol mark.

nowhere in the league of phoenix, norton or dicaprio.
