The Dark Knight BOF: NO Announcements Anytime Soon.

and again- i must stress my irritation with the fact that every new name rumored gets most of the hype saying "that'd be cool- he's a great actor." there are VERY few GREAT actors that are younger than middle-aged.

I mentioned his name once, because no one had discussed him at all, and there was no reaction there either.

I read somewhere that they went after Iman (Mrs. David Bowie) after Angela Bassesst turned down the part of Storm, but she couldn't do it because she was pregnant at the time.

A shame that they couldn't at least get a true African to portray Storm. I love Halle, but she will never be Storm to me, nor willl those Movies represent the "X-Men" to me.

How did this become a thread on Storm? On the topic of the thread: I'm thrilled!

So, as opposed to the sometimes newsflash that there will be news coming, this is news that there will be no news! :woot:

^^^Lol:D
I could have sworn he said the Harvey Dent announcement was coming soon sometime ago...

You're right and thats why i take this 'No Annoucements' statement with a grain of salt.

Nolan also commented that due to his work on THE PRESTIGE, he hasn't been able to focus on casting. However, the word is floating around the the part of Harvey Dent has been, or is close to being cast, and an announcement is coming soon...
Friday, October 6, 2006 - 12:54 PM, 6:15 PM:
Let me start out by saying that I don’t have a name for Dent, so if that’s all you want, then I don’t know if I have something that’ll interest you. Hey, it’s like Ft. Knox with THE DARK KNIGHT right now! But what I do feel very confident in saying that the role of Harvey Dent has been cast -- or they know whom they want and it's down to formalities. And unless someone doesn’t care about their job and/or position and leaks it, we’re going to find out who the guy is in the trades. I also feel secure in telling you that an announcement is imminent -- like real soon. FYI y’all.
Dent Announcement Imminent?

Wednesday, October 4, 2006 - 8:10 PM: OK, the Dent scuttlebutt is RAGING right now! Names are flying left and right -- some we’ve heard before, some we haven’t. Trust me -- this is one of the most sought after roles in H-wood. Nonetheless, I’m thinking something will happen SOON. It could be here at BOF, another site, or in the trades. At any rate, I expect an official announcement regarding Dent shortly as several sources have indicated just that to BOF. Be on the lookout y’all! Trust me...

I have been told by a reliable source that Katie Holmes will not be back for THE DARK KNIGHT, but ALL other major players have signed for the sequel (Perhaps she just hasn't "officially" signed on???) . Now, don't take that to the bank -- yet. But it comes from someone who would certainly be in the know.

Man, if the next offical update we get, reports that the movie has wrapped up and we'll find out who is playing Dent only on premier night, I will kill a kitten.

WB was supposed to reveal Dent back then, but the actor either refused or couldn't except due to scheduling.

P.S. Seriously, how come I seem to be the only one who knows this? Looks like another piece of news that most people seem to have missed.

You tell us. Apparently we all missed out on the official statement.

theyll do an official statement announcing principal photographys begun.

There was no "official announcement", but why isn't it obvious to anyone else? Around this time, quite a few sites were displaying that Harvey Dent announcement was imminent; a few quoting BOF, while a few others getting the info from their own source. One of these other sources happened to be Latino Review, which is said to produce accurate news all the time.

After it was said that the announcement would be made any day now, a week went by, but nothing happened. Other than BOF and I suppose a few other sites, a lot of others, including Latino Review deleted their stories on the subject. Why? Well, why else?

I honestly don't see a site like Latino Review posting rumours on their site. It's not their style at all. When they present news, you can bet your lucky stars that it's true...for the time being, and that's really what it was: true for the time being. I bet at that point no one really did expect the actor who was offered Dent to turn it down, but it obviously did happen, because the stories were pulled.

P.S. I also know that latino Review posted the news about getting the script treatment, but then not posting a thing, but what most of you have to keep in mind is that WB and Nolan has every internet site's nuts in a vice. WB is being extremely secretive about The Dark Knight (a little too secretive if you ask me), and most certainly don't want any internet site to break any announcements regarding the movie.

how come when i threw his name couple of weeks back after seeing invincible everybody said no now some idiot says wahlbergs cast and everybody likes him. what gives:o

I never saw your post. :p

The BEST part of the departed!?! wow, my friend. I don't know how you could say that with dicaprio, damon, nicholson and even alec baldwin all giving FAR more memorable and expert performances. and then there's the directing, script, editing...wahlberg was fine, but the BEST?!?

i really don't know how you can call him a great actor. he has no range. departed was his best job, but he's usually just mopey, quiet ol mark.

nowhere in the league of phoenix, norton or dicaprio.

I have never said he is better than norton and dicaprio, i think he is about as good as Pheonix like for example if we are talking a scale of 0-100, with Martian Lawrence being 0, and like Morgan Freeman is a 100 or something, I would put Whalberg about a 82-88 somethin like that, i would put Dicaprio/Norton above 90, and I would put Pheonix like 85-89 something like that

No, Dicaprio and Norton are two of the finest actors in the biz right now, just I would guess when they can pick and choose the Best Actor nomination role of their choice, they will go the way of Matt Damon and pass

so that leaves us with the Pheonix, Whalberg group, in my dreams Owen, but he is much in the same league of the Damons Dicaprios etc

I dunno Whalbergs done some solid stuff, you can say what you want about his range, we both have our own opinions on it, I think he has shown a decent amount of range.

And come on Dignam putting everyone in there ****ing place was so money

I don't know about you guys... but I just want BOF to shut up... LR has completely blown their sources and credibility out of the water

Little harsh don't you think? Its not like you have to go on his site.

Plus Jett has shut up for the most part over the last 3 months.
