The venue is part of the same complex as Wembley Stadium, where Queen famously played to 72,000 as part of 1985's Live Aid concert. Bohemian Rhapsody, the upcoming biopic about the rise of the rock band Queen and its legendary lead singer Freddie Mercury, is to world premiere at – almost – the same venue as arguably their most famous live performance.

It's an inspired choice. In the UK at least, Queen are almost synonymous with Wembley and it's hard to reference the band without thinking of their most famous performance at that venue. It's impossible to look up any photos of Freddie without seeing iconic ones from that show.

Singer was replaced on Bohemian Rhapsody during its final weeks of shooting by Dexter Fletcher, however, Singer received final directing credit and reportedly has been involved in editing the film. Singer apparently didn’t show up on set and claimed that he asked Fox for time off to contend with a parent’s pressing health matter.

Ehh. If this turns out to be a giant mega-hit, you'd have to give him at least partial credit for it. Still seems he was probably the major figure in shaping what became the actual film we're getting, even with all the behind-the-scenes ****ery.

Some of those shots are simply magnificent. He doesn't look exactly like him, but there's definitely something... like an essence.

At times the similarity is uncanny, at other times he barely looks like him. Very odd.

To be fair, it would be difficult to find someone who looks exactly like Freddie. He was one of a kind. I'm glad they didn't go overboard with prosthetics... hopefully it means they're confident his performance is enough.

He looks really close when it gets to the later years with the short hair and moustache. Really nailing the mannerisms too!

It may be a bit weird to see Malek more recognizable in the earlier years, but I’m sure it’ll still be an amazing performance!

Becoming Freddie

Found some super positive Twitter reactions to the Bohemiam Rhapsody screenings. One person called Rami as Freddie a "transcendental" performance. Haven't seen a poor reaction yet (apart from people who haven't seen the movie saying they're not going to see the movie)

Hoping I'm not getting myself too excited for this one. There's nothing worse than a movie not meeting expectation.

You can tell by the trailers for both A Star Is Born and Bohemian Rhapsody that one is trying to be a fun movie celebrating the music and rise of Rock icons and the other is an emotional piece of Oscar bait and a remake at that. It's nice to see a movie like Rhapsody that's gonna just be a film of enjoyment and participation and good music. So obviously the Gaga movie is gonna do better with critics and bloggers.

One of the reviewers said the entire Live Aid performance is in the film.

Wait, what? Wouldn't that be like an hour plus of the movie? *Forgets how long they played there* That can't be true, unless it was a typically-short fesitval type of set. Which you wouldn't think Queen at Live Aid would have been.

17 mins to be precise is all each artist got at Live Aid. They crammed 6 songs in that set.
