Bohemian Rhapsody

Is it still his movie? I thought he had abandoned it mid production when the Me Too movement was gearing up. I think it was after Oprah's speech.

Singer was fired in the final weeks of shooting/principal photography. He still gets the final directing credit and he also helped with editing the movie during post production.

Rami Malek still has the bug eyes.

Well, they are his eyes after all. He had them from birth, and hopefully he'll have them for the rest of his life also.
Yeah I'm sure this film will be great and he's a fine actor. I just don't like those eyes. I can't trust them like I can't trust David Goyer writing a film.

Not enough of the movie was shot after he was fired to qualify for removing his name from the credits. Who gets movie credit is up to the DGA, not the Studio. Though I think he helped in post-production also. But Singer was fired for not showing up to set. Not anything Me Too related.

I think the rumor was that there was going to be more allegations against him and he freaked out and left town without telling anyone, no one knew where he went. Then after production started back up with I think the DP taking over his agent finally released a statement. That was almost a year ago and it looks like nothing came of it.

I'm still super pumped to see this film, it looks great.

Which is what made it so suspicious. The timing was so bad.

Jnmx, pretty sure Singer's meltdown & disappearance wasn't due to the accusation stuff. Seems he was just acting like an unreliable ***hole generally.

Yeah pretty sure him and Rami Malek didn't get along which didn't create the best working environment. Everyone seemed a lot happier after he exited the production.

Singer claimed he wanted to care for his deadly ill parent and Fox wouldn't let him.

Bohemian Rhapsody is a passion project of mine. With fewer than three weeks to shoot remaining, I asked Fox for some time off so I could return to the U.S. to deal with pressing health matters concerning one of my parents. This was a very taxing experience, which ultimately took a serious toll on my own health. Unfortunately, the studio was unwilling to accommodate me and terminated my services. This was not my decision and it was beyond my control."

Bryan Singer Claims Fox Refused to Allow Him to Care for "Gravely Ill Parent"

Yeah, I'm sure his caring-for-mom-and-dad stuff was at least partially cover/not the whole truth, but from memory the reports at the time weren't saying it was anything to do with the accusations. More like he was just being all erratic and unreliabl with schedules, maybe some drinking and stuff.

And whoa, Man O Steel, that comparison shot is nuts! There are nitpick differences, yeah, but anyone claiming Malek doesn't look enough like him for it to work is high.

The Live Aid material was less than 20 minutes, but they blew everyone else away, watched the whole thing at the time and they simply grabbed a moment of history and made it theirs, knowing that the cause was the biggest and the reception they received would lift people, inspire them to give to the main point of the whole event.

One of the reasons why they out performed everyone was that Queen perfected their set for days before the concert. Most of the other artists didn’t do this, they rehursed enough but not the same extent. If you take note of the concert footage posted you’ll see on stage there was a traffic light system in place for the artists, when the light flashed yellow it meant the band had one minute left before the sound would be cut. Queen finished Champions exactly when the light turned red.

I really don't know what to make of the whole Singer thing in general. Might be clouded due to really liking him as a director, but I dunno, pretty conflicted on it.

One the one hand it's like "this much smoke over the years, there's surely gotta be fire too". I wouldn't be at all surprised if someday something substantial proves he's guilty.

And on the other...he's been cleared of every claim made against him so far, multiple times, and I do feel it's a little fishy this stuff always seems to rear its head like a week before a movie of his is due to hit.

Just don't know, weirdly 50/50 on the whole Singer thing.
Sex crimes are pretty hard to prove and convict. It is especially hard against wealthy and powerful people that folks have a vested interest in not seeing them convicted. A lot of very wealthy, famous and powerful people attended Singer's parties and it would not be a good for them if word got out about sex crimes taking place at those parties. We already know convicted sex offenders attended Singer's parties and were a part of his circle which doesn't look good combined with the fact Singer also liked hanging out with some barely legal looking dudes.

Cosby and Weinstein escaped justice for decades.

Cosby and Weinstein only got brought down when they were both far less powerful. Cosby is eighty, going blind and already burned a lot of support in the African American community with his overly judgmental egotistical act he had been doing the last twenty years.

Weinstein's company was making loses and on the brink of collapse before the scandals about him broke. The entertainment industry had no real need to keep covering for those guys but they do for Singer who is still a director and producer on a number of successful projects.

I know much is being made of Freddie's casting and rightly so, but the actor playing May is exceptionally well cast in his own voice pitch and movement of May himself.

Plus it's hard to put life into Deacon, being such a quiet yet devoted man of his work and the actor seems to have captured that. Obviously until I see it, I can't fully tell, but Taylor's guy doesn't quite seem to have the same 'swagger & verve' as Taylor did.
