Notice the similarities between the two long-running franchises? Batman movies have a formula now as much as Bond movies do.

- Numerous actors have played the title role
- Outrageous villains
- Spectacular action
- Incredible sets
- Always a different romantic interest
- "I want that!" gadgets and vehicles

Most importantly, a hero who can be re-invented to suit changing public tastes.

You just described a lot of action movies. A lot of action movies have spectacular action (who'd have thought?) and incredible sets (Though I wouldn't say Batman has incredible sets really). And gadgets are a staple of action movies. Also, to be interesting, the villains have to be somewhat out there.

Really, BB's set seems pretty impressive. I thought the Riddler Lair with all the lights and question marks and trap doors was pretty impressive? Both Burton sets were built on the largest stages in Hollywood and Pinewood because of their tremendous size? Batman's set was over 1/2 mile long itself and was the largest set made since Cleopatra back in 1989. BB built a Chicago like downtown. What's not impressive?

I guess I should ask, what is impressive to you?

Very true. Also, have you noticed how much Casino Royale is trying to copy Batman Begins in taking it back to the beginning and trying to give it a decent story which centres around the main character.

Yes indeed. Empire magazine even called it, 'Bond Begins'....

Are they restarting or just doing a prequel? If they are restarting then why is that one old broad in this one? I forget her name, but basically it was a big deal when Pierce became bond she was the first female boss? Q doesn't sound right, he was the guy who invented Bond's weapons right?

Prequel or restart, Judi Dench being M doesn't make sense either way. :o

When are people gonna wise up and realize that James Bond is most likely a cover name that the agents use.

Looking at the way the films are now the only way Sean Connery to Daniel Craig can all be James Bond is if the name is a pseudonym. Q`s name was passed over to the R character. Felix Leichter was a different guy every film why can`t people accept that each Bond is a different person.

The new film essentially cements this because it is Daniel Craig`s character`s origin film and yet it is set now and with Judi Dench still as M.

The only conclusion then that you can draw is that craig and brosnan`s bonds were seperate people and that craig`s character was hired as Bond because Brosnan`s bond got killed or had to retire.

Hey this is kinda an interesting notion i think i`ll start a thread abouts it.

Just no.

Casino Royale is Bond's origin, told in the present day. All the previous Bonds have been the same character. It's that simple.

It's only fair... considering how much Begins borrowed from Bond.

^ Ra's modeled on a Bond villain, Fox as a thinly disguised ‘Q’, the toss off one-liners… I suppose those are as good as any for starters.

Hmm...that sounds about right. But I think "tossed-off" one-liners can be found in any film. I guess Ghul is a bit Bond-ish, and I see what you mean with the Fox/Q comparison. But other than that, I can't see many more comparisons.

I suppose that's true; unfortunately.

Really? Nolan said in a number of interviews that he was inspired by the Bond films, specifically the Roger Moore ones. Oh yes.
