Books that deserve film adaptions.

Several (Walpurgis III, Ivory, Santiago etc.)books by Mike Resnick

Liege Killer by Christopher Hinz (Paratwa Saga)

Vickers by Mick Farren

A good adaptation of Neverwhere by Gaiman

Motherless Brooklyn by Jonathan Lethem
Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson
Good Omens by Terry Pratchet and Neil Gaiman
American Gods by Neil Gaiman

Anyone familiar with 'The Last Don' by Mario Puzo? It was made into a tv mini-series (I never saw it though) back in '97 but what the hell, some studio should really make it a movie -- it's gonna be a good one if made I think. The book's about the mob (duh...:yay: ), hollywood, vegas, showgirls, revenge, survival, etc. The book's a pretty interesting read, I recommend it.

Good Omens by Terry Pratchet and Neil Gaiman

I agree 100%. Terry Gilliam wanted to make this with Robin Williams and Johnny Depp, but nobody would fund it. It sounds almost perfect (I would rather see Paul Bettany and Simon Pegg in the leads). Terry is a perfect director for it. Hes got the right style to make this.

Maximum Ride: The angel experiment/Schools out forever by James Patterson. This could be the next Harry Potter boxoffice wise, and hopefully better quality wise, because I stopped watching the movies after that lame first one and most of the second. The book is already written in a breezy script like fashion so it wouldn't be hard to adapt. The only big problem I can see is the flying, it would cost a lot to make because of that.

Yeah that would be great to be adapted--if not by a movie studio, then one of the teen networks, with a good budget and actors, could make a pretty cool TV series.

The Voyage of the Space Beagle by A. E. van Vogt. Book was an influence on both Star Trek and Alien. I like to think of it as Ocean's Eleven in space

I've heard that Neverwhere, was being adapted, and I hope it is. Also, Good Omens would a lot of fun.

Kiss Me, Judas by Will Christopher Baer would make an awesome movie, which they're suuposedly trying to get in production.

The Contortionists Handbook by Craig Clevenger would also be great.

Ayn Rand - Atlas Shrugged. As you can tell from my sig, it's my favorite book.

Robert Ludlum - The Apocalypse Watch or his Covert One series. Though anything from Ludlum will rule.
Tom Clancy - Anything not yet adapted
Terry Goodkind - The entire Sword Of Truth series
Robert Heinlein - Stranger In A Strange Land
Cormac McCarthy - Blood Meridian. Since No Country For Old Men is out already, this should be adapted next ... most violent book ever.
Terry Pratchett - Any of the Discworld books

Oh, and to the guy who mentioned Neverwhere. I have a DVD version of the BBC miniseries. Maybe you should seek that out.

A Seperate Peace
Anthem
A Rose for Emily [short story, but, I think it could be fleshed out possibly]
Dresden Files
Animal Farm

APATHY & Other Small Victories by Paul Neilan

It's pretty new, but by far- FAR- the funniest, most laugh out loud inducing book I've ever read. Would be a big hit with the Fight Club, Palahniuk crowds except bigger- it's miles more hilarious.

Hello Random Bump. Came across this when checking if there was a thread for Blood Meridian. I hear they are moving forward on it . Its really interesting going back through this thread and seeing how some of the suggestions have actually taken place and how many are in active preproduction now years later.
