Can't Wait! Boondock Saints surprised the hell outta me! The narrative was great, the action was superb, and there are nothing but great performances. It's still great with repeat viewings.

I just watched it again yesterday and it is a damn cool and funny movie. I hope the sequel will be equally as good or better.

I liked the first movie, it was pretty good and the actors did a great job. My only problem was sometimes it was really hard to understand what the hell they were saying.

As a REAL irishman I thought the movie was a little Lame.
An interesting idea, but poorly executed. like 'The Way Of The gun' it was TOO far fetched in its depiction of violence and valor.
I liked the 2 main characters and found camp Dafoe Amusing, but did NOT buy Billy Connelly (scottish comedian) as the scarey prisoner commando.

I really thought Dafoes 'look the other way' attitude at the end was a little silly.

Plus that bearded maniac that befriended them was really annoying.
I like the 2 main characters though.

Sean Patrick Flanery .... Connor MacManus
Norman Reedus .... Murphy 'Murph' MacManus
    Marley Shelton .... Eunice Bloom
    Clifton Collins Jr. .... Romeo
    Billy Connolly .... Il Duce

And there are rumours David Della Rocco will be back too.

    interview witht troy duffy

1.) So bro what are some of your favorite films at the momment?
    HAVEN'T
HAD TIME TO WATCH FLICKS LATELY. LAST ONE THAT REALLY BLEW ME AWAY WAS
SEXY BEAST. Also I was wondering what were some influences that
    inspired
    Boondock? LIFE INSPIRED BDS.
    >
    > 2.) Are you still makiing music with The Boondock Saints aka The
    Brood?
NO. BROKE UP YEARS AGO. MY BRO TAYLOR AND I HAVE PLAYED A FEW TIMES
    ON
    THE COLLEGE TOUR THOUGH
    >
    > 3.) Have any favorite DVD's at the momment? NO
    >
    > 4.) How do you feel about Digital and Mini DV in the independent film
scene? Do you think it's a postive or a negative? POSITIVE. NOW NO
EXCUSES. YOU WANT TO BE A FILMAKER. START MAKING FILM IT'S REAL EASY
    NOW.
    >
    > 5.)So is Boondock II a go? YES I'm not sure how reliable the IMDB
    page
is. CAN'T GET INTO IT TOO MUCH BUT THE HOLD UP IS ON MY END. WE'RE
    WORKING
    IT OUT NOW.
    >
    > 6.) Clifton Collins is listed as playing Romeo, is there anything you
    can
tell us about his character? MEXICAN AMERICAN, TOUGH CRAZY FUNNY.

Also I was wondering if you could give us any details on the character
    of
Eunice played by the lovely Marley Shelton was just featured in Sin
    City.
MARLEY IS A STRONG CONTENDER BUT NOT THE ONLY ONE I'M LOOKING AT.
    EUNICE
HAS A SOUTHERN DRAWL A LA DOC HOLIDAY. SHE'S SMECKER'S PROTEGE, GOOD
    WITH
A GUN SMART AS A WHIP.
    >
    > 7.) I was wondering with Boondock II can we expect the same kind of
themes and tones like the original? YES...EVERYTHING ELSE, HOWEVER WILL
    BE
    DIFFERENT.

Is there still going to be some of those kick ass action scenes
    featured in
the first, or is the sequal taking a compelty different approach, with
    the
characters? STILL ACTION BUT WE'RE PUSHING THE ENVELOPE A DEGREE OR
    TWO
    FURTHER.
    >
    > 8.) I was wondering about Willem Dafoe, was his character originally
featured in Boondock II in script form? YES
    >
    > 9.) Do you have anything to say to all those independent filmmakers
    and
budding directors out there? TO WRITERS, WRITE. TO DIRECTORS, YOU'RE
    ON
YOUR OWN. ITS A TOUGH RACKET, GOOD LUCK.
    >
    > 10.) Last question, Are there any plans to some time re-release
    boondock
in a Uncut SE form? YES. wE HAVE DISCUSSED RELEASEING BDSI IN THEATERS
    AND
ATTACHING THE SEQUEL TRAILOR TO IT. ALSO MY ORIGINAL NC-17 VERSION
    WHICH I
HAD INTENDED BEFORE THE MPAA GOT A HOLD OF ME.

The story starts with a bit more in depth on the court house scene which ended the last film. As soon as they blow Yakavetta away, it is revealed that the MacManus father and sons have been hiding out deep in the glens and valleys of Ireland for three years. Connor and Murphy are quite content with this "natural" life and their pasts begin to seem faded and worn. But soon they recieve a "sign" and are called back into action as a pastor is murdered in a Boston church and the crime scene is staged to make it look like the work of the Saints.

Without Willem Dafoe, or someone with the same ammount of talent I don't see this working. I mean, at least to me, Dafoe's incredibly enjoyable performance was what made the movie. I mean... bought the DVD for the "and there was a firefight" sequence alone... it's not that great a movie if you strip it of Dafoe's performance.
