Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel

I'm so pumped for this game. Been on a Borderlands kick the past few weeks. Started up a Mechromancer and Commando play through because I never played as them.

Apparently, Athena is the tanky class. Not really my type. I played as the Sirens for my first full play through on both games, and they are absolute beasts on the battlefield. I initial though Athena would be the elemental damage class, and she probably is the closest to that in this game. They haven't talked about Nisha's skills at all so I'm looking forward to that. But I'm absolutely not playing as claptrap. I actually do like him, but an entire play though of hearing him? I might actually blow my brains out.

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel trailer teases a cannon-packing Claptrap

Watching this new "Last Hope" trailer leaves me with a powerful urge to say, "Meet the new Borderlands—same as the old Borderlands," but that's not really a surprise, is it? Nor is it even something to complain about, really. After all, there are worse things you could end up with than more Borderlands, especially when Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel lets you dress Claptrap up like a heavily-armed, hat-wearing pirate ship.

I loved Borderlands 1 so much, I played an insane amount of it on multiple consoles. Borderlands 2 just never grabbed me the same why and I found myself forcing my way through it. It just wasn't as enjoyable. I have little interest in The Pre-Sequel...

My love of the first game is still insanely strong, and I hope that when it makes the leap to next-gen it'll grab me again.

Borderlands is a game I've always felt gamers were more in love with the concept behind it rather than thr actual game we got.

Moons haven't gotten so much love as they have by video games in the past month since Buzz Aldrin landed on one in 1969. Link pulls one down to smash up dragons in Hyrule Warriors, and the good Guardians playing Destiny have spent an inordinate amount of time blowing up Wizards from around the lunar neighborhood. Everywhere you look, moons! In anticipation of even more moon action, Joystiq is bringing you an early look at Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel!, a game that places tiny, chatty robots on the moon and gives them many, many guns.

On Joystiq.com/Twitch at 6:00PM 6:30PM EST, 2K Games and Gearbox will be hanging out with Joystiq's own Ludwig Kietzmann (@LudwigK) to check out the ins and outs of this side story to the only shooter RPG with a bartender named Moxxi. Come by and ask questions of both the team and Luddy in the chat.

We regularly broadcast on Joystiq.com/Twitch every Tuesday and Thursday at 4:00PM EST, but if you want to catch specials like today's show, make sure to follow on us on Twitch.

That's really interesting...I felt they really improved on the 1st one in part 2. Better classes and stronger world design. I don't think i've heard anyone say they liked the first one more before...hm...

I liked the first one more as well.

I think that when this does hit the PS4/XB1.. Everyone will be rolling a Claptrap.

From yesterday it's talk about it. there's no story spoilers ad it's not game video

  • If Claptrap's behavior has ever seemed a bit erratic, this 11-minute Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel gameplay trailer recorded at PAX Prime might explain why. It turns out that his internal threat response software is actually still in beta, and doesn't always work quite as it should.
Claptrap's action skill, as narrators James Lopez of Gearbox and Joel Eschler of 2K Australia explain, is called VaultHunter.exe. Its purpose is to analyze a situation and then load an "action package" that will enable Claptrap to most effectively deal with it. Unfortunately for the unicyclic bot and those around him, there are still a few bugs in the system.
That means Claptrap will sometimes respond to situations in unexpected ways. He might lay out a little Claptrap turret that fires rockets all over the place, for instance, or he might suddenly whip out a "Clap in a Box," a huge, powerful bomb that's going to explode, one way or the other, in just a few seconds. All his abilities are useful, the developers say, but not always in the most obvious ways.
