retconning Cyke's braindamage was incredibly stupid

while I am not against a character progressing I just find it a little bothersome that Emma is the one to fix this. Scott has been around Jean and Xavier for so long and they couldnt figure this out. Xavier the most powerful mutant mind couldnt see this. Jean who could repair a universe couldnt fix Scott?????

well, maybe Xavier was aware of Scott's problem, but deliberately did nothing to repair it because he knew it would mean Scott would be reliant him. (at least in the early years) . Perhaps Jean also knew, but liked Scott the way he was, perhaps she thought if she repaired him -it would change him into someone she didn't love as much.

Just thoughts...

Marc, ASM's cover was symbolic. It's showin' Spidey's eventual bein' caught between IM an' Cap.

As fer Cyclops, I have always found him boring...UNTIL just before X-Men became New X-Men. Remember when he was wearin' that black costume? Cyke, thanks to Apocalypse, was FINALLY turning into a character I could like. And then they went and undid it all when they gave him that corny-ass turtle neck and ultra-slim visor.

Cyclops just needed to be shown some attention. I would have loved for him to be alone after Jean died but he ended up with Emma....and comes off as a dependant character. I would have had Scott be alone and get to know himself and improve before he jumped into another relationship with anyone else.

A good week. A very good week.

Infinite Crisis Special: Villains United Special
I can safely say that this is the single best Infinite Crisis tie-in special, rivalling several of the best issues that we've had in that series. Get this. Get this now.

Mass worldwide prison outbreak.

Black Adam vs. Captain f'ing Nazi.

Martian f'ing Manhunter and the worldwide assembly of heroes.

Doomsday.

You probably won't need to read this to get IC#7, but damned if you really, really, really should read this anyway.

(1835872 out of 10)

I couldn't agree more. This issue was awesome! One question though, since the mastermind seems to be the Lex from the other Earth, what is going on with this Earth's Lex? I doubt he would just stand by and let a copy of himself control all the bad guy's on his planet.

One more question (since I'm asking anyway). I just read the latest issue of Ult Spiderman. What was it that Spidey and Kitty were saying when the print was super small. I have good eyes, but I couldn't make it out. Thanks!

I had to leave VU fer next week. Too many $3.99 comics this week.

I bought the NA Annual. It sucked ass. It just reminded me why I dislike Bendis' writing.

He ruined another perfectly good character by changing her and killing her. If anyone read the most recent Black Widow miniseries, Yelena was a fascinating character, straddling the line between good and bad, and enjoying the hell out of life. It was bad enough when he injured her in NA #5, but to turn her into an Adaptiod and then kill her was just plain stupid.

It's just another incident of Bendis disregarding good characters for his own bad writing. I don't think he ever thinks about how his writing affects every other writer after him.

Ultimate Fantastic Four: I must say that until this new writer hopped on board with Greg Land, I was very much dulled by this book. It didnt seem to have a voice, the characters were lack-luster at best, and the art was mediocre. But now, I find myself quite hooked. The past few storylines have really taken interesting turns and risks and created some very memorable things for this team. I love the creativity with this team and will ultimately be very sad to see them go. My higlight of the book was the last few pages, with introductions of Masters and the reveal of Doom's return.

X-Factor:
Aside from Astonishing X-Men & Runaways, this is hands down, my favorite book out there right now. It has a tone, a great cast of characters, and a fantastic realism to it. Layla Miller seems to be developing into a very interesting and mysterious character. I thank this team for running with this great character from 'House of M' and doing her justice. I love everyone else as well, which usually wouldnt be the case. I feel these characters are meshed well and have great written chemistry.

Astonishing X-Men: Not many people can create a full dialogue issue and still captivate someone fully. Joss Whedon has now done this. His amazing dialogue and fantastic sense of these characters has truly impressed me in this issue. I wasnt sure where this would pick up from last issue, but it started and didnt stop. I feel Joss has a way of adding a depth and truly exploring these characters that has the genuine idea of what the X-Men stand for and adding more to them. I understand people's concern about Cyclops, but it's true what the others have said. Cylocps has never been an interesting character, he's always been pretty dull and dependant on other characters (especially Jean Grey) to exist solidly in the X-Universe. And what i LOVE about this issue, is Joss doesn't ignore all of this. He throws it in our and Scott's face. He almost does a crack of the fourth wall and aknowledges what most people think about this character. Him living under Wolverine's Shadow, never feeling enough for Jean, Having to make this large tradgedy of himself so that he can merely be noticed. It really made sense to me. And for the first time in years, I've understood Cyclops. I've even liked him. Thats big. Emma is wonderful as a manipulator and it's nice seeing her make this turn in this issue and being so darn good at it. Kitty and Peter are fantastic and such a delicate throw in as the phase through the floor was just perfect. And Wolvie's reaction as well. Beast's face at the return of Nova was classic, seeing as how she f^%#ed him up in Morrison's Run. I feel Joss also has something that Morrison had, exceeding expectations of fans and progressing the characters we love. We shouldnt slow them down because we like the way they are. These are people and we just watch. So lets sit back and leave the writing to the professionals :)

We should give Beast an off/on switch if were controlling everyones powers.

And once again. The fastball special should only be done by Colossus and Wolverine. ACCEPT NO SUBSTITUTES!

why should anyone be able to control their powers????
You think Scott was boring before what is gonna be his hook once he can control his powers?????
Fastball special should only be done by the X-men. I remember when Rogue threw Colossus and when Wolverine threw Colossus

See they shouldnt. Hey lets have Rogue control her powers.....10 year later Rogue is still stuck in limbo.

There are other things that can define Cyclops. Storm controls her powers. Collosus controls his powers. Kitty controls her powers. Emma controls her powers. Nightcrawler controls his powers. All of these people control their powers but still manage to stay interesting. if you can write a character, it doesnt matter if they even have powers at all. Its a characters humanity and emotions that make them who they are. if cyclops can start controlling it, great. If he cant, great. Just keep writing him well.

No powers make them who they are.:o

One great attribute of Cyclops is that he is still one of the two best leaders/tacticians of the Marvel Universe. :D

People gripe and complain so much about these characters becoming stagnant, but why complain when we have a writer here who is willing to progress the characters and do something noone else had the balls to do.

Yes because this aspect of Cyclops has never been shown before. Its not balls, other writers decided it was unnecessary and I agree.

Sigh...N/A annual.

Hey, here's a story where a bunch of people talk alot, there's a big fight which ends when someone not directly involved with the fight does something, and the whole thing ends in a HUGE anti-climax.

Ever read that story? Yeah, it's called EVERYTHING BENDIS WRITES. Hated it.

Lots of good stuff this week though - pick of the week goes to VU Special. Omfg the jailbreaks were just brutal. I cannot WAIT for the Secret Six series.

Oh and THANK YOU MR. SLOTT for the scene in the latest Thing where he PAYS Spidey to make his costume look like the original. ABSOLUTE brilliance. *cheer*

Cyclops in my book was never boring.
To me this rubs me wrong. Xavier and Scott are like father and son. He couldnt have fixed this????? Or didnt figure out this problem????? Maybe in this new Marvel where Xavier is this awful bastard but how long was Scott with Xavier before he formed the X-men?????
Hell when Jean was Phoenix all she wanted/shown to do was hold back the blasts.
"hey guess what Rogue you can control your powers all the time all you had to do was blink"
"But I was blinking all this time"

I don't think he is boring either, and he was always one of my favorite X-Men. I was just saying that he is wanting to progress the character, and I think we should wait and see how he handles it before we judge this change to a character. The visor is iconic, even if he can control his blasts, I don't see them getting rid of his visor.

That was a great scene.

Alright, so I read Hulk anyway. Good issue. This story reminds me a lot of Spartacus and Gladiator. Also, Hulk seems more articulate than he's been in the near past. He wasn't quite like that in Peter David's run. Seems a bit inconsistant to me.

Sentry #8 This mini has been a real mind %^&$ but an interesting read nonetheless. While reading this,I expected some flash bang ending to end this conflict forever. But then I realized the ending is more of a beginning for the Sentry, more than a conclusion. There is a little bit of closure here, but things are left wide open for the future. We finally get an origin and it's an interesting one.The whole opposite personalities deal really shined here. 8.5/10

Hulk #94 As simple as the premise sounds, there is so much juicy story here it's great. The supporting cast gets more fleshed out while Hulk's ever growing hatred for "puny humans" escalates. Not as much action as the last 2 issues, but there's enough story here to hold us at the edge of our seats until next month's epic battle. The flashbacks were a treat.Enemy Mad! 10/10

Ultimate F4 #29 The end of President Thor.I thought this was a great storyline which used alternate dimensions and time jumping to great effect. The conclusion was very awesome with Benjy stepping up bigtime.Great twist I didn't see coming at all.You can already tell Millar's Doom is going to be badass. 10/10

I only got Runaways and Astonishing this week. I am shocked to see everyone on here didn't mention Runaways #15, it was awesome.

Anyways, my shop's shipment, all their The Things were so beat up. I didn't pick one up. Can someone explain the scene where he pays Spidey to change suits? Thats great.

And wtf, who did the fastball special in NA Annual?!

That is an X-MEN only move BENDIS! Preferebly with Colossus....:o

Now I remember why I don't read NA.

Maybe the Thing could pay Cap to get a real team of Avengers

Spidey jumps in with his stupid a$$ new suit on to help Ben fight Sandman and Trapster. After the fight is over, Ben asks if Spidey can put his old suit back on. After saying "Yeah, kinda", Ben pays him $20 to do it. I would have hugged Dan Slott in a manly-gladiator-kind-of-way right there if I could have.
