Boyle and Searchlight Reteam for 127 Hours

The new trailer is excellent, Franco will be in Oscar contention I imagine.

As I wrote before, I had watched the movie last month on a special screening, and the movie was really great (aside from the music).

Now I read people faint, puke, and have seizures during the film? Ok, the scene is really grouse and graphic but it’s in no way more graphic that Piranha 3D, or Saw.

Don’t understand the reaction of the people?

Anyone else seen it?

Films like Piranha and Saw are heightened and not as realistic so the graphic scenes aren't as bad, in some cases they come across as almost comical, 127 deals with something that happened and something that is possible, psychologically the audience is putting themselves in the same situation hence the scenes being all the more terrifying even if on the surface they aren't as bad as anything that's been seen before. Haven't seen the film but it doesn't surprise me from what I've heard if people are being severely affected by it.

I need to see this. It's finally getting released not too far from my hometown, so when I go back for Thanksgiving Break this will definitely be on my To-Do list. I've always thought James Franco was underappreciated as an actor, and judging by that trailer I'd say this should be his best (and possibly "breakthrough"?) performance.

Saw this movie on friday. It was only playing in one theater in all of toronto which is kind of a bummer but i went to go see it, and it was great. I loved the way boyle used all kinds of camera tricks and angles and whatnot, the story was really well done.. My fave part from the whole movie though is when he is on the "talk show". James franco did a really great job in this movie, at points when he started to go off the deep end a little was a tad confusing, The scooby camera flash made me laugh so hard though lol.. And.. as for the "scene," it wasn't tooo bad. I did see one person literally bolt out of the theater when it started.. I gotta admit i felt the tiniest bit of weirdness while watching it, then again it could have been the kfc i ate b4 the movie lol. The thing that got me most about it though was the sound.. Excellent choices for the key points in that scene.. Very unforgettable.. I'm not quite sure it's oscar worthy but it was a damn good film and i will be buying it come dvd time..

The arm scene was crazy though, I don't know how they did it, it looked like it was his arm for real..very convincing. Any body got any clue how they did it?

I read they used several prosthetics that Franco had to cut through.

I'm really interested in seeing how this movie comes out, but I'm serious weaksauce when it comes to movie gore. :o I may have to wait until DVD and then fast-forward! Or shrink the media player really really small...:o

well it's less saw quality, and more akin to a surgery.. it looked pretty realistic.. not a whole lot of blood, where did you hear that?

for anybody wondering what the amputation scene is like b4 going in.. i found it on youtube.. no idea how long it will stay.. tell me what you think.. keep in mind, its blurry and shot in a theater, the actual movie scene is really detailed..

The amputation scene wasn't that bad until he yanked out that big ass nerve. FFFUUUUUU

I recieved my official DVD Screener today. Watched the movie for the second time and loved it even more. Even the music is strating to grow on me.

Does Franco hosting the Oscars have an effect on him being nominated or winning ?

He's nomination is now 100% sure. Nominated by every critics group, and by BFCA, Golden Globe and SAG.

But he will lose to Firth

Can someone help me with the soundtrack. I have download it, but the track I wanted most to listen is not there. The one that is playing when he 'sees' Blu John and we get the mixed screen montage.

I saw this tonight...OMG, it was fantastic! I absolutely loved it. Franco was amazing, and I am amazed at how Boyle keeps you engaged when not much is really happening.
