Comics Brace Thyselves.

The only reason I can think of for Peter to wear the black suit again is that his movie counterpart is going to be sporting it, and that's really no reason at all...

It's. Just. A. Suit. It's not a big deal anymore, and it hasn't been for years.

It's not a big deal to you, but there's a reason why he stopped wearing it after the whole Venom thing, and it just seems silly that he'd bring it out of retirement all of a sudden and dredge-up all those bad memories associated with it. Since it's 'just a suit.', he could just make himself another black one that doesn't look like the Venom one... Hell, why doesn't he just make himself that looks like the movie version-- y'know just a grayscale version of his red and blue one...

You just don't get it. And I'm too tired because we'll be going back and forth on this. I think it makes MJ look pathetic for still being hung up over a suit, you don't. She got over being kidnapped and stalked, move on already.

I get it just fine-- we both think the suit looks really cool, but that's not reason enough for Pete to suddenly put it on again. If this made any sense, he would just define a whole new costume and identity for his vigilante persona since everybody knows he's Spider-man now.

Also, it does not make MJ look pathetic-- it just makes Peter seem insensitive to put that suit back on without a good reason while a living version of it is still out there bonded to MacGargan. That's the only way I can see this really working is if he somehow ends-up re-bonding with the symbiote due to all the negative feelings that have manifested in him.

Yeah, Peter sux anyway you put it.

i think if they replaced the page with this.. it would make a lot of us fans real happy :woot:

Blame that on the writers. If Peter was in character, he would have never endangered his family like this by taking his mask off.

...

Five bucks says the next EOC of Marvel makes Peter and M.J. married again, somehow, just as a big **** you to JQ. That's what I'd do.

And on the subject of this...

When the hell was the Pete/M.J. marriage considered controversial?

Joey Q. stated in multiple interviews, including Wizard, that their marriage is very controversial (??... ...??) ...thus, it is so.

He and JMS will fix it, he has also stated, thus it is so.

We the fans will be magnificiently amazed at how they (JMS and Joey Q.) end it ...and how it resolves the marriage problem once and for all, he also has stated, thus it is so.

Everyone will buy these issues to find out just what the stink they are gonna do to May and MJ.......whether they like the decision to off/break up MJ/Pete or not.

Then Joey Q. will be letting us all know what a success it is, breakingup/killing MJ....based on those sales figures. He will let everyone know what a genious he is -based on these sales. (disregarding the actual opinions..., but what he says...thus it is so!!)

Fans will be unhappy.

Retcon will come.

Pete and MJ will date again. (be alive again if needed...)

They will be married again.

We will re-read dating stories and re-read a marriage story. A come back of MJ and a "wedding" will make good sales in two or three years from now.

We will be right back here where we are now in a year or two before Joey Q. decided to "fix" everything.

Fun ride.

I love circles.

Thus, it is so? :whatever:

We know either May or Mj is going into the ground,

We do?

Have they actually come out and said that one of them will die?

What'll probably happen is they both get it and in One More Day, Peter has the chance to spend 24 hours with only one of them to say goodbye and has to choose MJ or May. He picks May because she raised him, was like a mother to him, etc. and thus has to give up on MJ. Thus does JoeQ have the "final say on the marriage".

Yeah, that won't make peter a prick.

And you're name is funny.

Meh. I'm waiting until this is out until I begin to hate it. :p

But didnt Joe say killing MJ off wasnt an option?

He said making Peter a widower wouldnt be good for the "youthful image" Marvel wants Peter to go back too.

Exactly.... that's why I'm willing to bet that Peter walks away from Mary Jane despite the fact that he loves her so much, because her association with him puts her life in danger so much and so often, that he can't live with that guilt, so perhaps a mindwipe to set the slate clean, and Mary is neither killed nor divorced, and once again, the Spectre of Spider-Man comes between Peter Parker and the woman he loves.

It's so Stan Lee-ish, that it's the only viable answer to Quesada's created controversy about their marriage.

:yay:

That's been my guess ever since Peter unmasked himself and posted a similar theory over on the Newsarama boards several months back. So not only is the marriage dissolved but so is the unmasking. Although, for some reason, I feel it's also going to involve more spider-totems, time-travel, and Dr. Strange.

And Loki.

They gotta focus on the screw up that was the ID reveal first, forget the "change to the character's fundamental- everyone has to grow up, including Peter. And that means taking those steps in life that most people hope to take; like marriage and kids. The attraction to the character is his everyman role, who experiences the same things in his personal life as we do - and we dont all remain perpetually high school - we grow up and meet significant others.

On the other hand if its May that gets shot (if anyone does - Cap could have someone stationed to protect them but hasnt told Peter in case Peter is being played by Tony in the hopes of capturing another anti-red hero), then I'm kinda okay with that as her ressurection was a smear on the milestone #400, and all the events surrounding that time were the embarrassment that was explaining every single event in Peters life over the last seven years as being a careful machination of Osborne.

MJ shot, she's in a coma until S-M 3 hits theaters.

Takes her out, puts him in the black costume. Easy enough.

Seriously, MJ should get over the black costume issue for one reason: It symbolizes Pete's one villain who has really gone from being high threat to total joke. >_<

I don't know, it just seems ridiculous. They have to shake up the "controversial" marriage? Someone said earlier why can't we let a comic move on and grow and accept that people break up, etc? Here's the answer:

Not every marriage falls apart.

Seriously, the unexpected pregnancies and transmission of diseases should probably be rampant through the superhero community as often as characters are written together, often shown in bed or suggesting they've bedded one another (Okay, so the healing factor gets Wolvie off the disease hook, but he's only got one kid thus far we know of).

Sue and Reed are a shining example of the writers working a marriage as having some shaky areas, really rough rocky patches, but still staying together.

Why are Pete and MJ different? Why do we have to divorce them or split them for the sake of moving backwards? This isn't a progression of Spider-Man, it's an attempt to return him to being a "single college range guy" that the 18-25 male market will "relate" to.

We should have seen MJ grown over the years, taking a martial art for self defense, learning to use a gun with great accuracy (which allows you incapacitating shots w/o lethality for story use) and becoming a stronger character that can take care of herself without Pete being the worrisome "will I get her killed" character.

Hell, at this point, have the blasted alien symbiote bond to her so it can still be close to Pete and she can take care of herself.

With all this "put your loved one in danger" we're being dragged through, Pete shoulda gotten hitched to Felicia and been done with the problem.

Then again, maybe we're jumping the gun. Maybe, just maybe, the One More Day series will surprise us and cement MJ and Peter as a happily married couple determined to get through anything together, no matter what it is.
