I wouldn't be mad if Jarvis got the part, but I'd rather see him as Ra's. I also don't hate Ritchson as an actor, but he doesn't feel right for Batman. He comes off as more of an all-American type vs. the European, aristocratic vibe I typically prefer for Bruce. He can play Guile in that Steet Fighter flick though.
To be fair, Bruce is as American as they come, with roots that date back to the Revolutionary War. But I get what you're saying about Ritchson. He's more of a sporty meathead type, which is a far cry from the sophisticated and well-bred depictions of Bruce that we've seen in the past. The only reason I can even think of for Ritchson being part of the conversation is his physique, which is comparable to how certain artists like Mikel Janin portray Bruce in the comics. For my part, though, I'd rather that Batman not look anywhere near that roided out. lol
You know, as much as I'm excited to see Damian Wayne and other Batman Family members on screen for the first time, I think it's unfortunate that his presence in
B:TBatB somewhat restricts the pool of actors vying for the role of Batman to those who are 35 and under.
Considering Jason Elordi's recent comments that Gunn's
Superman is "too dark," I'm not sure if he would be open to trying out for Batman, but I keep coming back to him as a great potential candidate. His multifaceted turn as Nate Jacobs on
Euphoria S1 is still the best example of what he could ultimately bring to the role. Jacobs is one part Christian Bale in
American Psycho (all dark and enigmatic) and another part All-American social animal. He moves fluidly between the two polar opposite types, much like Bruce does with his Batman and "playboy" personas. The problem, which brings us back to my earlier concern, is that he's only 27. Granted, he'll be closer to 30 or 31 by the time the film rolls around (and he does look a bit older than his actual age), but I don't know if Gunn would consider someone that young for a seasoned Batman with an adolescent son.
The only other option I like is one who hasn't been mentioned here in a while: Lee Pace. I don't know if his name has been somewhat tarnished by a certain former Hype member making it a little too, shall we say, ubiquitous on the Internet these days lol, but I still think he's a solid choice for an older version of the character.
I'm not fully sold on Ethan Peck just yet, but he checks all the right boxes. So, I can definitely see him in the running for this.
