Someone needs to photoshop a cowl on him here. ('Tis a good angle.) I'd do it myself, but I don't have those kinds of skills.

The way Gunn has been mega-vague in terms of how old he's aiming for Batman in this to be leads me to think that Batman being "young" really isn't as big a priority for him as it was for Superman and that the whole "few years older" is not meant to be taken mega literally. So early to mid 40s can still very well be in the cards.

Tom Bateman would look good with David Corenswet as Superman.

I really wish there was anything in his acting resume that'd indicate that he'd be good for Batman, because as far as people in their 30s go he's pretty much one of the 2 or 3 that has a correct look for this. But he seems to be at his best when playing manic characters.

Corenswet pretty much seals the deal because for the life of me I can't come up with a single other Batman pick that'd match his Superman as well. Both over 6'3, both from Juilliard, both have deep imposing voices, both perfect for each character. They're the ideal duo.

In addition to bonafide dramatic chops, Pace is a criminally underrated comedic actor as well. I think him playing an exasperated Bruce Wayne trying to instill discipline in his psychotic assassin son would be really fun to watch.
Strong deadpan comedic chops should be a vital part of this Batman - that's always important and one of Pattinson's biggest skills in the role but I really want it to be emphasized here. I've been re-watching JL/JLU and I love what a moody, catty ***** Bruce is.

I have never seen anything Lee Pace has done, and from images alone, he doesn't feel right for the part.

Anything to recommend that could show him in a good light and change my mind?

He's was in the first Guardians of the Galaxy and the Hobbit movies, though I wouldn't say that's his best stuff (especially Guardians).

I'd check out Pushing Daises, Halt and Catch Fire, and Foundation. Pushing Daises is a bit more upbeat but I love that show so I wanted still recommend it lol.

I don’t know guys, I can see it with Pace based on skill, but he looks nothing like Batman to me. He’s a good actor and I’m sure there are some panels from some artists that resemble him, but he doesn’t look like Batman to me.

I won’t be disappointed if he gets it. But I think he is far from having the perfect look for if. Affleck wasn’t perfect as Batman but there were some shots of him that looked ripped straight out of the comics. He very closely resembled Wayne to me.

This picture is the most any live action actor has resembled my ideal Bruce Wayne.

I am way more concerned about acting skills, presence and demeanor than I am about the character being a 1-1 match with the illustrations of the comic. Pace may not look like any specific iteration of Bruce Wayne as drawn in the comics, but it doesn't really matter to me because he still has the look of a handsome playboy billionaire with something potentially darker going on just fine. His eyes are intense, his jaw is great and he has a pretty good mature look to him that fits the iteration of the character they're going for.

I think the only options mentioned so far that you could say are lifted straight out of the comics are Tom Bateman and Tom Cullen and the fact that we don't know if Cullen can act and we also don't know if Bateman can pull this type of performance off are both big turn-offs.

I will also note that to be honest half the time comic artists are just incredibly lazy when it comes to drawing Bruce Wayne lmao 90% of the time he's just drawn like how every other male comic character is drawn, it's why sometimes him and Clark look like clones, and why even his Robins look like clones of him too. So it's not like there's this insane amount of thought put into the Bruce Wayne look in the comics.

Ben does look great in BVS, that glorious hair piece is doing a lot of the heavy lifting and it bothers me a shocking amount he doesn't have it in JL, but there's something really generic and uninteresting about the traditional square jawed hero look that the characters are drawn as in the comics that Ben falls a little too closely into - I have the same thing with Superman casting: that sort of look just isn't very interesting to me on screen. You have guys like Bale or Pattinson who are close to it but just have way more character in their faces than someone like Ben does.

Pace is tall, dark, handsome, aristocratic and extremely imposing. I prefer live action Bruce's aim more for that Byronic, wolfish quality than your more traditional leading man look because to me that captures the spirit of the character better than aiming for a right off the page resemblence. Another big factor to me is that, apart from maybe the voice Pattinson uses, even Pace's natural speaking voice would be by far my favourite live action Batman voice.

We do know Tom Cullen can act though. He has the perfect voice too. He is definitely my top choice for a Batman in his 30s. He was the lead in the show Knightfall.

I see him being a great counterpart to David Corenswet’s Superman.

It’s not one or the other. You don’t have to pick looks or skill, you can have both. I’m sorry but Pace doesn’t have the look in my opinion at all, even though he is a great actor. I really enjoy him as an actor and want him in the DCU in a different role. I think he would be a good Brainiac.

my favorite for the role is probably Gosling, another guy that doesn’t have the look. I can admit that there are some guys that don’t really look the part that would make for a great Batman. But if we can I want someone that looks the part and has the chops.

Eh... how would Ryan Gosling fit Batman more than Lee Pace does?
