Brave and the Bold Casting Thread

"Batman and Talia conceived Damian when they were teens" just feels silly.

Just cast a late 30s/early 40s actor for Bruce. Old enough to be believable as a seasoned Batman, but young enough that he can still play the role for a decade.

Yep. Anywhere between 36 and 41 should be fine IMO. But as any prospective actor will be at least a couple years older by the time filming starts, it'll be easier to narrow down the search once we get a tentative release date.

Or once we get an actual age range.

Jason works best as a dead prop to create conflict within Bruce and with Dick, in my opinion. There is absolutely no value to having him as Red Hood.

I beg to differ.

If you're adapting the Morrison run/era of Batman comics as the primary source of material for a narrative arc for the Batfamily across the two chapters of the DCU, IMO you'd be a fool not to include Jason and his arc through that era (albeit you'd need to insert the Under the Red Hood storyline for adaptation early on after TBATB).

Jason and his rivalry with Dick in the Battle for the Cowl and his later redemption arc in the Batman Inc comics would make for a strong archetypal Prodigal Son character to juxtapose between both Dick as the "Perfect Son" inheriting the proverbial throne of Batman in Bruce's wake and Damian as the newcomer Robin with an inherent inclination to be more like how Jason was- and an active desire from Bruce and Dick to make sure that Damian doesn't end up like Jason.

Sadly though, Tim's out of luck here IMO.

I think you're quite wrong in that because over the last 30 years they've been pretty explicit about Dick and Jason being Bruce's sons. On a recent issue Dick even called him "dad"
If the rumors of Bale is true, you might get your wish. I think Bale would actually be a good choice for the new DCU Batman. The only issue is Talia died at the end of the trilogy and was not pregnant. Let’s see how the Flash movie plays it.

Even if its Bale, Gunn is not going to build his shared DC universe on the back of the Nolan trilogy.

What the hell?

There are rumors about Bale?

I read Graces tweet. She is speculating about Bale being the Batman for the DCU but she believes he will cameo in the Flash. Remember she said Wonder Woman 3 would have Callie’s Supergirl and introduce Hawkgirl.:cmad::whatever:

Nononono I’m 100% sure Bale is coming back as Batman and Affleck is directing him. Only it will be a Batman Beyond story and Bale with be playing Terry McGinness. Clooney will play old Bruce. :o

If Bale were to return, it would probably be a variant, not the precise Nolan one, so they would have some leeway in creating his history (i.e. Talia not dying).

IF this version does turn out to be Bale/Nolan’s version, I think Talia’s survival is pretty easily explained. Say she was hooked up to some portable defibrillator or something that gave her a jolt when her heart stopped. Introduce the Lazarus Pit. Something, I don’t know. But I feel like wilder deaths have been retconned.

I highly doubt that rumour is true though.

Reid Scott is a tad older than I would want for Batman but… screw it, he was so good in Veep and Why Women Kill that I would be down for it. Hell, he was the only character I liked in those stupid Venom movies.

Alan Richtson really doesn't strike me as having the vulnerability necessary to portray private Bruce Wayne.

I like Alan Richtson as Reacher , and while he has the physical presence and he has personality, he's not the greatest actor.

I still like the actor, but just not for Batman.

Alan Richtson is so goddamn boring that just looking at his face makes me start nodding off at my desk like a narcoleptic.

If they're going for an older, " Dad Batman" , in Brave and The Bold , than

Jensen Ackles as Batman is my guess

and I think he would be fine.

i am hoping both The Brave and The Bold and the Batman part 2 have unused villains

Probably older than most of you would want, but I wonder if this take on Bruce might be the time to finally play the Jon Hamm card.

I don't even think the problem is his age per se, I think the problem at this point is that he's not athletic enough and for him to get to that point would be really taxing. I think he has a great look and voice for Bruce but yeah, I think his time has kinda passed.
