I’d buy this guy as a comic accurate Batman who is ripped but lean with an assassin son he didn’t even know about. He’s already very well known, unattached to other superhero roles, aggressive but capable of being very funny, and a very solid actor. Bring blonde gives him a solid differentiation from Pattinson - sorta like how Val Kilmer and Daniel Craig shook up aesthetic expectations. Definitely feels like a guy who could be a billionaire playboy by day and seasoned Uber-vigilante by night.

Pattinson has naturally dark blond/light brown hair as well. I think he just went a couple shades darker for the role in question. So, while I wouldn't say there's any real physical resemblance between him and Skarsgard, there are certain similarities. Additional ones include: both are fairly well known European actors; both have a history of playing vampires and darker characters in general.

But yeah, Skarsgard's certainly not the worst choice I've seen suggested around these parts.

Still on the Pace train, though. Don't think Gunn will go older than 40-41, but I'm happy to be wrong on this one.

Some dude on Twitter won't quit pestering Gunn about Pace, though. Hope that doesn't hurt his chances of being considered. :sigh:

I see Skarsgård more as a veteran, king , Aquaman myself, but I also wouldn't be disappointed if he got Batman.

I could actually see his True Blood co star Stephen Moyer as Batman, but at 53, he's more than likely ,out of the age range that they're going for , though he is old enough to have had several Robins and a teenage son by this point.

In a sea of Jensen Ackles AI fanarts, one has to be the standing opposition.

All of these folks could stand to tone it down a bit as far as I'm concerned. lol And, surely, you of all people wouldn't think Ackles stands a chance against the mighty Empire! :o (Would he?)

Yeah I think in the event they go for that age range Ackles doesn't stand a chance unless a lot of things went wrong. Between Pace, Gyllenhaal, Fassbender, etc I struggle to think how he'd come on top.

Ackles was down to be Batman in Gotham Knights, I think that's the kind of avenue where he'd get that opportunity - not the face that's competing with Pattinson. Although, with Affleck's comments, maybe the whole Gunn DCU will be more low-rent than we expect...

I only read a small excerpt of the Affleck interview, courtesy of Josh Wilding on CBM. I should probably go back and read the whole thing.

I really don't think that we should take Affleck's sensibilities as a sign of anything seeing how he was the man that thought that Live by Night was a great movie that'd land him more Oscars, thought that BvS was a great script, and had an admittedly extremely awful pitch for a solo Batman film when it came down to him coming up with something on his own. He's also inherently biased because of his negative experiences with the franchise.

I think he was just speaking to the interconnected aspect of the shared universe model (kind of like what Tarantino was getting at with his "hired hand" remarks); and why he's supposedly done making films like that. I only say supposedly because one has to wonder: if you hate a given approach so much that it drives you to drink, why keep coming back for more? Obvious answer is finances. But even so, it makes him look mercurial AF.

He's kinda all over the place and has been for years.

Really don't think the guy who has said he doesn't wanna be involved with comic book projects for years saying he won't be involved with a comic book project means the DCU will be "low-rent" lol

They have the latest EGOT winner leading their upcoming series. That's the opposite of low-rent

Skarsgard’s crossed my mind a few times. I wouldn’t hate it.

Poppy Corby-Tuech of Fantastic Beasts fame

Not the best actress I'll admit (not terrible either), but she's a dead ringer for Mikel Janin's Selina. Tis uncanny.
