Brave and the Bold Casting Thread

First Batman to actor to need a digital voice changer even when he's Bruce Wayne.

ATJ would be awesome. Could not care less about his voice and I’m sure he’s capable of altering it in the suit like literally every single actor in the world can do. It’s not like Jake where I think his weird voice is a strength not a weakness (I would want Jake to just be normal Jake in and out of suit in terms of voice) but it also doesn’t really matter to me.

I like ATJ well enough (to the point that I was willing to accept him possibly being cast as Batman before Pattinson was made official) but he’s younger than I want for this and I’d rather it not feel like another in a string of superhero roles he’s trying to ride into a franchise.

Only in these forums you'd find such takes as "voice doesn't matter when casting" despite the fact that there is an entire acting field that's entirely focused on voices. ATJ's voice is atrocious for Bruce Wayne and he's never, and I do mean never, shown to have an extensive vocal range or something like Pattinson has which would lead me to even remotely believe he could pull it off. ATJ would be atrocious as Batman even in a Direct to Video animated movie, let alone a liveaction film.

ATJ’s voice isn’t… that bad? Also he hasn’t done a Batman voice in a role because he’s never played a role in which he was asked to do a Batman voice. It’s not difficult.

He’s also very suited for suave, Denny O’Neil James Bond Batman. Moreso even than The Batman’s Bruce who I believe we know he was on the shortlist for.

ATJ remains wildly underrated imo. Dude’s got serious range and could play this role with his eyes closed.

I like ATJ fine but I think he's too young to play a Batman who's supposed to be the father of a preteen/teenager. Whoever they cast should be at least a couple of years older than Pattinson.

(Yes, I'm aware that ATJ started having kids at a crazy young age in real life but that's a whole other story :o )

Voice stuff is - genuinely - a thing any trained actor can do to some degree or another. It’s not easy but I don’t understand why people forget that the entire thing about being an actor is being able to alter yourself lol. Or assume that because an actor hasn’t done it yet they are incapable of it.

ATJ is super talented, but his stoic performances always seem kinda flat to me, especially in comparison to his more animated charismatic characters, like in Nocturnal Animals. I think he'd be much better utilised as a Constantine.

He’d be a great 007. The crossover between good Bond and Batman candidates is goddamn near 100%.
I loved Keaton, and have no regrets that we got him. But I cannot help but wonder what Pierce Brosnan would’ve done with Batman.

He now says that he greatly regrets saying no to the role and admits that he was shortsighted and arrogant in turning it down.

Gyllenhaal, huh? That really takes me back…

I like the art; still not really on board with Gyllenhaal though. But it makes sense. Wouldn’t surprise me at all if he gets the gig.

I feel like in the early/mid-2010s, in his post-Prisoners/Nightcrawler period, I would’ve been more amped for it. Now, a little bit less so, but I still think he’d be fine choice.

If this is true and Walker is on Gunn's radar, I hope he gets a look for Batman. Probably bull**** though.

I feel like I’ve seen that account post a bunch of **** that no one else ever corroborates or even bothers to comment on, so I’ll take that with a massive grain of salt.

The only thing there I’d really buy into at the moment is those arcs serving as inspiration for Waller.

Some of those Waller arcs involve Batman quite a bit..

Love the cowl here. I really hope they can pull off a thin cowl this time while maintaining that expressive aesthetic. Except for Pattinson’s, the cowl is historically way too bulky on film, and it’s not depicted that way in the comics. The shape here is also better than Pattinson’s, but that might just come down to the shape of the actor’s head.

If they wouldn’t rely so much on foam rubber for building the entire mask, I feel that they should be able to pull it off. Carbon fiber or fiberglass could give you the necessary structural support with much less thickness, and you could contour over that with rubber to provide the expressiveness. If Marvel can consistently pull it off with Deadpool, Spider-Man, Wolverine, and Black Panther, I’m not sure why it should be so different for Batman.
