Brave and the Bold Casting Thread

I love how you can be a regular working actor for like 15 years, appearing in multiple TV shows, movies and theater (acting alongside legends like Judi Dench and being directed by Kenneth Branagh) but someone decides you’re not right for Batman and you’re “a terrible actor.”

But hey! Here’s some guy who looks like my favorite Jim Lee drawing of Bruce Wayne. Cast him immediately.

I was being a little flippant in my post calling Tom Bateman terrible, but the only thing I’ve seen him in was Cold Pursuit with Liam Neeson…admittedly, maybe that’s not the best barometer for acting lol.

Haha yeah there are definitely better displays of his acting out there. :hehe:

How are we vibing with Gabriel Basso these days?

He’s dull as driftwood as an actor and is in the “celebrities need to shut the eff up about politics” crowd, which should tell you exactly how he really feels. That’s rich coming from a guy who helped make JD Vance famous in a bull**** movie.

And this is his approach to acting: “We’re saying words that we’re told to say. We’re told how to say them. We’re told where to stand.”

Real thespian, there.

I love the idea of asserting likelihood when the script isn’t finished, the movie isn’t greenlit and people are just shooting the **** online based on vibes.

Mother****er, we aren’t refereeing this ballgame. :o

I think these are some of the more reasonable names.

WB will cast someone who can be a leading man for the studio, not only as Batman but in other WB features.

Supposedly Zaslav has really been gunning to turn Brandon Sklenlar into a star under the WB tent, and pulling him away from Paramount. They've worked out a deal for his Fast movie Taylor Sheridan Sets Action Thriller ‘F.A.S.T.’, Starring Brandon Sklenar, at Warner Bros. (Exclusive) I personally don't care for Brandon, but it's certainly more tolerable than Alan Ritchson and some of the other terrible fancasts.

I seem to recall him dropping a “there shouldn’t even be a federal government!” in an interview when he was asked about playing Vance. I was like “oh okay, you’re one of those.”

What an idiot. He sucks.

The fervor over this new guy whose name I haven’t even had time to commit to memory is so funny to me, bc I literally haven’t seen a single example of his acting. It’s all headshots.

For all we know, this mf could be created by AI. :o

Renee Montoya - Eréndira Ibarra (Sense 8, Matrix Resurrections)

Lady Shiva - Ming-Na Wen (The Mandalorian, SHIELD)

Probably been suggested before (possibly by me)

Sarah Essen - Rhea Seehorn
I’ve suggested her, but for the Reeves films not the DCU. I just feel like Essen would be a better fit in that environment.

So, the young boy from Super 8 whose only other claim to fame was playing JD Vance in that terrible movie that was released almost 5 years ago became a sh***y human being?

Okay. I just saw that I’m actually ten days younger than Sklenar. I’m not fully on board, but I might be warming up to this.

I just refuse to be significantly older than Batman. :o

Gee that’s pretty insane. He’s going to set a very unrealistic standard of dadbod

I see Bill Skarsgard get suggested for the Joker and other villain roles a lot, but what about Batman? He’s pretty much as big as his brother now and after watching him in Nosferatu, I’m wondering what kind of bat voice he could do. Might be a cool way to make a big splash with casting since WB supposedly always wants a name for Batman.

I would rather have Bill as the Bat. Actors who play Bruce should look just a bit crazy

Absolutely. It’s why guys like Affleck could never pull it off IMO. You need someone who can play an unhinged character. Bale, Pattinson, Keaton can all do that really well.

I do believe that Ben Affleck had it in him to do the character justice, and there's a lot about his performance I like throughout different movies. It's just that Zack Snyder didn't really know what to do with Batman. And no, it's not really based on The Dark Knight Returns either, aside from the looks and some superficial citation dumps such as saying stuff like "we're going to war."

Funnily enough, there is one scene in The Flash that captures the essence of The Dark Knight Returns better than any of Snyder's attempts, and it doesn't involve Ben Affleck. It's when Michael Keaton stitches himself together in front of the mirror with and smiles.

P.S.: Bill Skarsgard is an interesting suggestion for the role.

Yeah I don’t like Andy Muscheitti at all as a director (I didn’t think Flash OR It were any good) but if he brought Skarsgard along as Batman (assuming he does direct this) I might get on board.
