Breaking Bad

I think AMC made the decision for unknown reasons. It wasn't the creators' choice. But whatever, it'll just make it all the better when it comes back. And we'll probably have new episodes of Breaking Bad and Mad Men on the same night, which will be AWESOME.

They want to try it in the summer where there is less competition. Mad Men and Breaking Bad may have "low" overnight ratings for their premiere episode but DVR usage and On Demand can add 4 million to Mad Men.

It does give the writers a huge head start as they are writing right now. No thought was given on what would happen after the final scene of season three, so the extra time will only help them. Gives them plenty of time to revise scripts when it comes to shooting in 2011.

Breaking Bad reruns begin this Sunday after the encore airing of The Walking Dead.

Before I was a bit skeptic to the the show since the premise sounds a bit familiar and thought it would fall into the same pattern but the story is handle well and overall a great show, I'm on the third season now.

Get the DVR ready!

Breaking Bad Series Marathons Begin Wed., Dec. 8

Next week, AMC kicks off a landmark marathon of its Emmy® Award-winning drama Breaking Bad, featuring all 33 episodes from the series' three seasons. Beginning with its critically acclaimed pilot through last season's gripping cliffhanger finale, AMC will air two back-to-back episodes of Breaking Bad every Wednesday night through March 2011.

Created by acclaimed writer/producer/director Vince Gilligan, Breaking Bad has garnered numerous awards and accolades, and has been heralded as "the best show on television" (Los Angeles Times). Suspenseful, volatile and shocking, Breaking Bad pairs the vibrant look and feel of a modern western with darkly comic moments that show just "how thrilling TV can be when it lives on the edge" (TV Guide).

Throughout the series, Walter White (Bryan Cranston) - an unrepentant 'everyman' - battles dueling identities: a desperate husband and father trying to provide for his family, and a newly appointed key player in the Albuquerque drug trade.

The inaugural season of Breaking Bad premiered in January 2008 to overwhelming critical acclaim from audiences and critics alike. The bold drama has won six Emmy® Awards, a Peabody, multiple Guild Awards, and was named one of AFI's Top 10 Television Programs (2008). The series is produced by Sony Pictures Television.

AMC's Breaking Bad Marathon begins Wed., Dec. 8 immediately following AMC's Action Pack programming block with the Pilot episode followed by Episode 101, "Cat's in the Bag..." Two episodes will air back-to-back each Wednesday night through March 2011.

Cool, time to get some people hooked on this show...

for the past 5 days, i officially watched the whole series for far!!!! Great show, didn't realized AMC has some good series (EXPECT MAD MEN, MAD MEN SUCKS)

Its funny, i just started watching Mad Men and i'm halfway through season 1 and...so far i dont see what the big deal is with this show but i suppose it picks up eventually. Breaking Bad on the other hand grabs you from the first episode.

^^^Yeah, but actually I think Breaking Bad lessens while Mad Men keeps picking up

Mad Men takes awhile to get used to since it's very subtle and not fast-paced.

I mean i dont mind slow-burn, the Wire is one of my favorite tv shows of all time and that was a slow-burning, intelligent show. But when the Wire hits you, it hits HARD. I'm still waiting for that "hit" in Mad Men i guess.

Since you're halfway through season 1, the second half of the season is where it picks up it's momentum.

You just have to know the characters, then you start to enjoy it.

there is no payoff with mad men, to be honest.

the show relies on you to get sucked into the 1960's environment, and hopefully start caring for the characters. the more invested you are with the show's characters, the more you'll enjoy the show.

the difference between that and breaking bad, and why i think breaking bad is so much better, is because breaking bad brings the figurative punch with big moments, and also develops the characters in order for viewers to actually care about what is going on. mad men isn't nearly as compelling to me, though i do moderately like the show.

I dig MM, but BB is just built as more engaging, relatable, exciting and emotional show.

The two leads are characters that we get behind instantly. Walt's been dumped on his entire life, and despite being extremely smart and doing everything right, he's got nothing to show for it. The one thing that ever went right for him at all was scoring a hot wife, and he spent the rest of his life dealing with dissappointing both her and himself. When we start the show with him, we see just how little he has and how weak he is and how much he regrets and wishes things were different. And now, he's dying.

It's incredibly easy to get drawn into his situation because his situation is one that we all face at one time or another- it's just his is as bad as it can be, and all at once. Rock bottom.

Jesse on the other hand reveals more and more in him as the show goes on that is, perhaps, Breaking "good." While on the surface he's just a drug using, dealing little ****, we're shown that he just made mistakes, lacked motivation and decent people around him(The parents, while looking squeaky clean, are a huge part of pushing him towards his current life), and has so much good in him that it just leaks out without him knowing it, even if he does stupid things some times.

What's there to connect with in Mad Men? Living 50 years ago? What new crap you're going to spend your money on? The cut throat advertisement business? Like I said, I love the crap out of it, but it's more interesting than engaging. I watch the characters, I don't invest and relate to them like on BB. With Breaking Bad, we connect with the characters because in so many ways, we *are* the characters. At the very least you can look at the people on BB and see them every day in your own life. Mad Men.. not so much.

I loved his monologue about building a box in carpentry class. Such an amazing cast.

lol watching some reruns of the first season on AMC I felt even worse for the guy, it reminded me that he's been getting his ass kicked since the beginning. :woot:

David Slade reveals that he will direct an episode.

Dana Davidson: Hi David! Let me say you have made some amazing movies! What are you working on now?

David Slade: I am definitely guest directing an episode of Breaking Bad, which is going to happen in January. I’m doing episode 2, 3, or 4, we don’t know yet which. I’m a huge fan of the TV Show and I met Vince Gilligan, who I am kind of working with on, kind of a script, that he wrote, that I really like. I don’t know if that will be the next one that I do. It’s a small little comedy and it’s really cool. I asked him if I can direct an episode of my favorite TV show, so I’m doing that for sure, the TV show episodes, episode. And then it’s between three things now.

That's cool I guess.

*Filming of season 4 started yesterday (well now it's two days for me). :)

I just found out Breaking Bad isn't coming back until the summer. Got any details to tide me over? — Frank
ADAM: Walt and Jesse definitely started a war with Gus at the end of last season, and it looks like both sides are bracing for battle. First, I heard that Saul, Walt and Jesse's lawyer, will hire an intimidating bodyguard. Now, I've learned that Gus is also getting a new henchman, who though much smaller in stature, shares his boss' understated toughness. Advantage Gus, anyone?

My guess is that the cartel will help Walt and Jesse and that Walt will take gus's place but it's just a guess.

Hearing any buzz about the new season of Breaking Bad? — Matt
Yes, and my little bee is all aflutter over a recurring character who might not be with us much longer. For insight, let’s turn to BB star Bryan Cranston. “It is hard to say something without tipping the hat on another and causing a domino effect,” he says, “but in the first episode of the season, there is a very unexpected turn of events, and one of our characters who has been on the show several times finds a possible demise. Mysterious.” Guesses?

I'll guess maybe the Cleaner?

Or one of Jesse's friends...

Interesting with that info. I hope whoever it turns out to be it's not Saul, man I'm so anxious for the new season to start.
