Breaking News! Moammar Gadhafi Has Been Killed!

I don't buy it.

Again I'll ask... have you seen the photos? It's obviously Gaddafi.

Why am I getting deja vu? Oh right. Because we went through this online denial crap when Bin Laden was killed too. :whatever:

He's better off dead then captured. If he was captured, he would have been on trial in The Hauge, Netherlands and seeing as how trials there have been slow as hell, it would have taken years to try him. Slobodan Milosevic died before the conclusion of his trial, and I highly doubt we will see the end of the trials of Radovan Karadzic or Ratko Mladic either.

My only beef with killing these dudes is that they become martyrs since their followers are oftentimes psychotic to the point of attempting to continue their work or avenging them. But it's a "this could happen to you" kinda thing.

Gaddafibot.

JJJ, governments and intelligence agencies deceive. It's what they do best.

Have you read what they've done in the past and recently? Can you blame citizens being suspicious and/or skeptical of the news?

Andrew Sullivan makes a very good point:

"To rid the world of Osama bin Laden, Anwar al-Awlaki and Moammar Qaddafi within six months: if Obama were a Republican, he'd be on Mount Rushmore by now."

And if Obama were a Republican his supporters would be calling for his impeachment over al-Awlaki and Qaddafi.

Honestly, I'm just messing around but I would caution anyone who just believes anything because there's a picture.

We have pictures of Bigfoot too.

All's well that ends well for another former evil tyrant.:o

I think John Wilkes Booth said something similar around 150 years ago.

Much of the behavior we attribute to "evil tyrants" are celebrated in American history. Which isn't a defense of Gaddafi, to quote the Joker "I'm glad yer dead", but lets not pretend that this is truly that significant.

I blame comic books, it's hard for me to believe anyone actually dies now. :o

I don't see dudes in Iraq rushing to be the new Saddam. If anything seeing guys like Gadhafi and Saddam getting wacked scares the hell out of these dictators.

Why do you think they are cracking down so hard on protesters in places like Iran, Syria and Yemen?

Most these despots think they are untouchable hell even Gadhafi thought he was secure 6 months ago.

These rulers treat their people like garbage they shouldn't be surprised they rise up against them.

Gadhafi was offered a way out time and time again and he refused. He murdered his own citzens he funded numerous terrorist groups in the 1980s and he bombed a plane killing innocent people. He was lucky the bombs that got dropped on his ass by Regan didn't kill him, his death was long over due.

In my opinion the nutter got what was coming to him.

Just went to CNN, and yeah, I'll buy that he's gone.

Having seen video...did people kick his dead body around? In the picture there's more blood and what not.

Trying to bring that silly hat of his into fashion.

Probably... people don't treat the corpses of tyrants with much respect. When Mussolini was killed, they strung up his body for people to throw rocks at.

It's always shocking to see death pictures of dictators and terrorists.

A foreign dictator who openly sanctioned terrorism that murdered Americans is dead after six months ago preparing to rape and murder his own people by the tens of thousands in Benghazi and is dead by the hands of those said people.

And this happened without a single American life being lost and what would amount to an extra day in Iraq for us.

The facts sum it up, in the end.

Ironically, of all the things Republicans try to bash Obama for, the murder of al-Awlaki is the one thing that could actually stick as an impeachable offense. But ofcourse that would make them look weak on terror, so constitution be damned.

Also, I love that the media are willing to put photos and videos up of dictators being killed, but not American executions. We can't even photograph caskets of American soldiers coming home.

That's been going on since 1989, when photos of Nicolai Ceaucescu and his wife after they were killed were shown.
