At any rate, I lump Afghanistan in with the rest of the Middle Eastern countries that have a problem with us. I've said time and time again that things would be different if we weren't trying to be besties with Israel, but it's far too late for that.

whats so hard to understand? we attacked the wrong country. none of those who took the towers down were afghans. all of them came from saudi-arabia...the home of al qaeda. the home of bin laden. the home of radical islam. but hell we have business and oil with them. they can produce many radicals as long as they deliver us oil ...we wont do anything...

You seem to conveniently be forgetting where Bin Laden and company BASED their operations out of...

afghanistan but it doesnt change the fact that most of the fundings of al qaeda came from saudi-arabia...answer me some questions:

1. who attacked us? afghans? al qaeda ? saudis?
2. was is right to stay for so long in afghanistan?
3. wasnt the goal to kill bin laden?

Saudi Arabia didn't attack us - Saudi Al Qaeda members did. We didn't attack Afghanistan because they attacked us, but because that is where Al Qaeda was and because they wouldn't give them up.

We should certainly get out though, especially now.

1. Osama Bin Laden and Al-Qaeda (based out of Afghanistan) attacked us on 9/11.

2 and 3. The 'goal' of the Afghan war was to kill or capture Osama Bin Laden AND to break the taliban's stranglehold on the country. You seem to also be forgetting (or ignoring) the fact that the Taliban harbored Bin Laden and Al-Qaeda in Afghanistan.

I'm thinking some extremely wealthy Saudis are freaking out right now about the intelligence information that was taken from Bin Laden's house. We know he and his family are billionaires and we know he was best buddies with certain members of the royal family. He had financing from not only his own wealth but from other rich Saudis.

Whoa. Good point, rfb. Haven't even thought about that yet. Some of those Saudi royals definitely play both sides of the fence, just like elements in the ISI.

Marx, you pretty much took the words out of my mouth.

united states official do know very good, that there are members of the royal family that supported bin laden and other radicals. the saudis know that too. they arrested many over the last years to show the world that they dont tolerate terrorists. but still they have some advantages.

1. oil
2. being the most holiest place in islam.

both points are far too important for us to risk them...

yes the taliban gave bin laden protection but the goal still was to capture or kill bin laden and we should have focused on that and nothing else...but we changed our goals...

The Saudi royals are the devil we know basically. As terrible as they are, we're scared anything that replaced them would be infinitely worse and more radical.

we are more scared about the fact that, if the saudis fall, we cant control their oil supply...

Chris, no offense but you're out of your league here. Your answers are simplistic and sound like regurgitated talking-points from 'Fahrenheit 9/11.'

What!?! Bin Laden wanted to overthrow the Saudi monarchy! He made it abundantly clear in his writings and statements that his primary grievance was with Saudi Arabia and the presence and influence there of infidels, namely the armed forces of the United States.

What really sent bin Laden over the edge was the Saudi decision to invite in U.S. troops to protect the Kingdom right after Saddam had invaded Kuwait.

He is basically making me defend President W Bush. The Hype may explode! :funny:

Don't get me started on Iraq. The mission in Afghanistan was clear. Bush diverted that attention to an unnecessary war in Iraq and Obama rightfully refocused in Afghanistan.

that's exactly my point. we should have finished the job in afghanistan. killing bin laden, destroying al qaeda and maybe we would have given the afghan people a "life"...but instead our government looked for another war....with own interests and we lost bin laden during this time, al qaeda gained power taliban also and we started from the beginning with obama...we could have saved thousands of lifes....now we're on the brink of collaps (in many terms)
