British or American?

Highway Patrolman (played by Dan Aykroyd): Good day.

Boomer (played by John Candy): Hi.

Highway Patrolman: May I see your license and registration please?

Boomer: (chuckles) Here you go.

Highway Patrolman: Thank you. (looks at license) Oh Americans. Welcome to Ontario. Sportsman's paradise.

Boomer: (chuckles) Isn't it though?

Highway Patrolman: Would you please get out, and step away from the vehicle.

Boomer and the Highway Patrolman walk to the back of the truck Boomer is driving. Spray-painted on the side are various insults directed at Canadians, such as "Canucks are dead meat", "USA all the Way", and "You Suck Canada".

Highway Patrolman: Ok. What is wrong with this picture?

Boomer: Um...Uh...No snowtires!

Highway Patrolman: No.

Boomer: I was uh...driving on the wrong side of the road. You see, I'm not used to your rules up here and I was...

Highway Patrolman: (holds up hand to stop him) That's not it. (points to the grafitti) This writing on the side of your vehicle...

Boomer (shocked): Oh!! How did that get there?! Those kids at the garage. I just stopped there to just...

Highway Patrolman: Whatever. My concern is the sensibilities of a certain distinct and viable part of Canadian society. Le Quebecois.

Boomer: Huh?

Highway Patrolman: You know. Wine drinkers. Pea soup eaters. French Canadians!

Boomer: Oh yeah. Those guys. Sure.

Highway Patrolman: If you wish to avoid prosecution, I would advise that you comply with our language laws, which specifically perscribe that all signs be in both English and French, Canada's two official languages.

Boomer: Ok.

Highway Patrolman: I do have to fine you. That will be 1,000 dollars Canadian, or 10 American dollars if you prefer.

Boomer: Oh no, I'll pay the American there. Yeah, there you go buddy. What was that, ten? Thank you very much.

Highway Patrolman: Your receipt. And now... (shakes a bottle of spray paint) In French, if you please.

Love that film. Why did michael moore have to turn into such a martyr complex wanker? TV nation was teh bomb!

It was on TV on Tuesday, Aykroyd's Ontario accent is what really makes that scene funny.
