Tell me what stories have had Batman face againts an enemy who has used Batman's entire history as a weapon? What stories have had Batman race againts the Omega sanction while being a ticking time bomb, along with having a back up personality, having a brutal Robin whos Batman's own son as the new Robin, having Dick Grayson mentoring this said Robin, having Joker team up with the Batfamily againts common enemy and so forth.
all those ideas have been used in some capacity. I understand completely what others are saying about grant morrison. he is not some writing genius like so many make out. I dont understand the need to put some of these writers/artists/directors on pedestals. not everyone likes the current form of batman in either the books or the movies or the cartoons, and therefor has the right to voice their dislike for those. i dont understand why some of you feel the need to jump on those who dont like something. such immature insecurity over a fictional character.
as for facing a character whos used Batmans history, hmm, this can be seen through many stories. there have been villains whos used batman/bruces past against him. most recently is Hush in current times. the idea itself has been used in some scale, so its not original.
Batman has also been faced with powers far beyond his human capacity. regardless if its the omega sanction, darkseids forces, crisis', whatever. not an original idea.
Having a brutal robin sure as heck isnt an original idea either. Jason Todd anyone? it can also be argued that Batman has viewed every Robin as a "son". genetic or not. its arguable. Bottom line, not an original idea.
Grayson being a mentor? Hes always had that kind of role with every Robin thats come after him. Not original.
Joker teaming up with the good guys? Been done, for whatever reason, for whatever reality, its been done.
ideas have run out, plain and simple. putting a new twist on it doesnt make it "original".
just for the record, i read the monthly books, dont like them all, but i stil read. im a completist. they sure as heck can do better than morrison writing.
