Bryan Fuller to remake The Munsters for NBC

Sadly, I probably won't be able to catch it on Friday, due to some last minute errands that surfaced. I can only cling to the thin hope that NBC will put it on iTunes.

Grandpa eating the lion.... yeah, what was that about them not looking monstrous enough? :oldrazz:

This show looks very interesting but I'm not feeling the humanoid look at all.

I like the juxtaposition to the original where they looked like monsters but were insanely human. Now it's the opposite.

That's a very good point. It's just feels odd when you go so far away from the traditional image. I mean you could really slap any title on this and market it without the connection to the previous series.

Just watched the videos. Very interesting; I especially enjoyed them mention of basing their Grandpa on Coppola's BSD. Nice. Thanks for sharing, Sawyer.

I wouldn't say opposite. I think the lines are just blurred a little. I mean, seems to me most of the family is in a similar place as the original, it's just that the subject matter is being played for dramedy instead of straight comedy. The big change seems to be Grandpa, who's more of an old school vampire. Seems like that's there to create conflict. Makes sense, too. The archetypical older family patriarch promoting tradition and clashing with the more modern views and lifestyle brought into the family by his son in law.

I figured he would be when I saw that they had aged Izzard up.

Yeah, they were really awesome. I love Herman's heart problem and him wondering if he'll still feel the same way about his family with a different one.

Yeah, I thought the clips looked great... I think NBC *****ed out. With a few months of promotion, instead of two and a half weeks, I think this would've attracted quite a bit of attention. Now, who knows...

I agree. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for this.

I liked the clips on DreadCentral, especially the dinner and Jerry silhoutte gag, and the behind the scenes clip above.

Lily still isnt doing it for me.

Looking foward to tomorrow night.

What I'm wondering, since GRIMM is in it's second season... if this gets the same amount or slightly higher number of viewers... would this be enough for NBC to warrant a series? Basically does it absolutely NEED these huge god-send numbers or just show promise? For instance, Munsters could return next year as a companion show to Grimm. I'm personally seeing it pull in the same audience plus a couple of more who are fans of the show. To me, that would warrant a series because it guarantees at least the Grimm audience will probably tune in which NBC does see as a strong audience (I think). With the same ratings, I'd say that's a safer bet than untested shows and perhaps that is why they did pair it up with Grimm - to see if it does bring in the same audience.

Apparently Eddie Izzard is on Craig Ferguson tonight. So there's some non-biased promotion.

Unless Izzard and Ferguson are married and no one told me!

I'd crash the **** out of that wedding.

Turned to watch and my NBC station is showing some bulls*** on making your own Halloween costumes and haunted houses.

:cmad:

Loved The Prophecy homage with the kid in the sleeping bag.

Made me laugh.

pffftt... 20 minutes into it and I got bored...

now I know why it didn't make it as series material...

the only good thing about it was Eddie Izzard...

THAT was awesome! My Mom didn't like it, but I think a new generation of viewers might. It was dark and had really dark humor, not for everyone. I'm really hoping the ratings show that it can stand side-by-side along Grimm because I think that's all it will take to green light it. Also see it having the same audience.

And I seriously can't wait for Hannibal, if Fuller could make the Munsters creepy and dark yet fun - I'm sure he can do wonders with Hannibal.

It also somewhat reminded me of TEEN WOLF in tone which I guess surprised me the most lol.

ADDING: Hoping they add the pilot to I-Tunes, anyone know if they will?

I thought it was ok. I enjoyed it but not in LOVE with it. Needed a little bit more weirdness ala Pushing Daises.

I think Herman was the only weak link, but I'm not sure it's O'Connell's fault. The character had to be completely redone and the script played him as the most straight man ever.

I liked all the scenes with Eddie Izzard and Marilyn. I loved how he seemingly hates her and still cares for her.
