Bryan Fuller to remake The Munsters for NBC

What, is your affiliate run by a bunch of uptight *****es who don't like good things?

It just pissed me off because they were showing commercials for it and everything. Then they day comes and they don't even show the ****ing thing.

The opening started so epic and then it got so stupid and silly. I was like HOLY CRAP A KID JUST DIED! Then they are all safe in the car? The werewolf looked great though. Some of the cgi was sooo awful...like the rats forming Grandpa. Some of it looked amazing...like the mist forming Lilly. The entire episode felt really disjointed. It felt like they had a million ideas going on at once and couldn't develop them all in time. What was down the stairs? Grandpa didn't set up his lab...it was just all of a sudden there. Everything felt way rushed.

It did look gorgeous though. Also...that kid actor was so annoying. O'Connel was okay. Izzard and whoever Marilyn was stole the show. It could be the Grandpa and Marilyn show and I would be okay with it.

If this show gets picked up, they need to redo the pilot to let it breath and really cut down on the cgi. I think what they were going for would have been better serviced as a 2 hour movie. If they want this to be a series, they need to really go through and retool a lot of stuff and rewrite the show.

My expectations were low, so that might've helped, but I really liked what I saw. It had a few problems, but I could see a great deal of potential in what they had assembled. I really hope they give it a second look and change their mind about cancelling it.

A part I really liked was when Grandpa was young again. He was looking good, and you could tell he felt good.

Also, I found Eddie to be a pretty obnoxious kid. Everything he said was just so smart-mouthed.

Everything everyone said was smart mouthed. It's a sitcom.

Not really. Lines on sitcoms are normally witty and funny, not smart-mouthed and disrespectful unless the character calls for it(Such as Carrie on King of Queens). Also, he's a kid. He acted pretty obnoxious for the entire pilot and I wasn't a fan of it. Just his entire demeanor seemed really unlikable imo. Now that's what sitcom characters are supposed to be. Likable.

Lol, of course they're not going to show children dying on a show like this. Even that one kid who hit the tree in the sleeping bag said ow to let the audience know he was still alive. Even Grandpa didn't kill that boy-scout guy, he fell and died on his own. Not a single character killed anyone for that pilot. Animals don't count.

And I agree about the kid. There were times when I wanted to smack the wolf out of him.

On another note, something else I did like about it was how Herman differentiated the words "Monster" and "Munster" when he talked to Eddie. They even sounded different when he said it. Great touch.

"You're a Munster, not a Monster."

5.4 isnt horrible given that this show was given about 1% promotion before airing.

Sad that Nikita is basically is all but dead. CW needs to move it to another night.

Neither is the 1.5 demo on a Friday night, making it one of the top shows of the night. That's the best NBC has done all fall in that timeslot.

Will be interesting to see the DVR info in two weeks. With a huge budget it obviously wasn't intended for a Friday night but given the low promotion and being a self starter at 8pm it did pretty good.

I doubt dvr numbers will be anything to write home about since I think this caught a lot of people who arent on the internet off guard.

Which is why I'm interested in seeing what the numbers will be.

NBC this fall has brought in half the numbers in that timeslot with reruns so there were some people out there that tuned in knowing it would be on.

It did boost Grimm up a lot in the demo so it was at least a good idea to put it on instead of letting it sit and never to be seen.

Those numbers and the shape of NBC in general. I'd be surprised if this isn't picked up.

I think the only thing stopping it from being picked up would be the budget. Which they could probably lower since they really dont need as many fancy effects as they used in the pilot.

True, but they always overcompensate (budget-wise) on the pilot. Things would be downscaled regardless.

They could reign in that budget. I don't see why this would need to cost any more than something like Once Upon a Time, and that show definitely isn't costing 10 million an episode.

Putting this on fridays with Grimm is a no-brainer. It'd be a pretty killer combo.

I actually don't know why the budget wouldn't be the same as Grimm. I mean that shows has monsters and new settings even every week. Plus, I think, the house is completely built now so it's not like all that money needs to go into building the grounds anymore.

Yeah, I'm definitely seeing this probably getting picked up. As said, it's a fine companion piece and has the same audience and with that level of promotion... here's to you frightful fridays on NBC. :)

I'm actually genuinely shocked the numbers are as high as they were, considering this only had two weeks of real promotion, and NBC didn't even go the extra mile with it.

I hope they wouldn't rush a 9 eps season in the spring when ratings tend to fall across the board.

If it were picked up, hopefully NBC would do a few more specials through the next half of the season to keep people interested and not let it languish for a year like Pushing Daisies and people forget about it. Give it a proper 13 ep commitment for fall 2013.

I was disappointed by it. I was a fan of Pushing Daisies, but this lacked any of the charm of that show and just upped the bizarre factor to WT-proportions. While the special effects were good, the show overall was boring. The only thing I could genuinely say I liked was Herman's shadowy introduction, which was a nice touch.

I saw where they were going with it, but it needs some serious retooling and to decide which genre it's going for. As it stands now, it just went in too many conflicting directions which diluted the whole product.

You know I think NBC could push a Interesting Lineup next year if they wanted to do that on Friday with

Mockingbird Lane
Grimm and
Hannibal

^ Horror night Friday... Now thats a cool idea.

Not so sure they'll want to dump Hannibal on Fridays yet, though. Not being as "quirky" as some of Fuller's other stuff, and being a type of crime show, that one could very well be a decent-sized mainstream draw.
