What about the score? Who is doing the score to this picture?

It'll be John Ottman, without a doubt.

Singer has a editorial and composing relationship with John Ottman extending way back to The Usual Suspects. The reason Ottman wasn't involved with the first X-Men is because he was busy directing Urban Legends: Final Cut at the time (which he also edited and scored himself). That's why Michael Kamen was hired to score the film, and why three other editors worked on it.

Ottman's involvement hasn't been made official, but he will be involved as co-editor and composer for DoFP. I expect Ottman's score for DoFP to be in the same style as his X2 score, with some nods to Henry Jackman's FC score.

I sure hope its Ottman, I love his X2 stuff.

I am sure John Ottman would pay homage to first Class score In some of 60's scenes.
i am hoping to get some stuff from X2 played with future scenes.

X-Men hype is the best. So glad this franchise is getting a second wind

Singer talks about the film in Empire Magazine

"It's epic. We get to bring both casts together. We've cracked it in a way that makes sense. I had a two-hour conversation with James Cameron about time travel, string theory, multiverses and all that. You have to create your rules and stick with them. That's what makes Terminator and Back To The Future work so well. And there are certain mechanisms in X-Men, certain powers, perceptions and characters, that make this possible. More than any of the movies I've made, it comes to me much more quickly than on other films. With Superman Returns I struggled a lot. I guess it's either my history with the X-Men universe or I have some kind of knack for this particular story."

judging from what he said there id say we can expect a 2 timeline 50/50 split screen time, or at the very least the original trilogy guys will get a decent amount of screen time

I seriously can't wait. I might have to freeze myself until it comes out.

^Well then you run the risk of accidentally freezing yourself for to long and end up in a post apocolyptic world where you have to find a time machine to stop yourself from being frozen....etc..

Think they'll reuse his main theme from X2?

I'm pretty sure Ottman will revisit his X2 theme, at least parts of it, in this film. And it's a good chance he'll reuse Henry Jackman's FC theme too.

Ottman likes acknowledging composers that came before him, when he does sequels. He reused Carpenter's original Halloween theme in Halloween H20, incorporated many of John Williams' themes in SR, and even quoted Christopher Young's theme in Urban Legends: Final Cut.

But he didn't quote any of Kamen's stuff from X-Men in X2... just wrote a score in a similar style.

I hope it's a new score. I don't like revised versions of old scores. Superman Returns score was pretty boring because of it.

Superman Returns was an original score with the exception being the main theme.

The terminator quotes open up possibilty of time travel actully helps bring about the other
films.

The terminator use of time travel when you think about it doesn't make a whole lot of sense. The exsistance of John connor and skynet are caused by original time travel. But when you make good and entertaining movie GA Is willing to forgive the logic. As both terminator films prove.

But these quotes I think Is proof the film Is going to cut back and forth between both timelines. And Back to the future quote may mean they found a way to give original film characters a better endiing without resorting to Invaliding most of films.

I hope there are some elements of X2's score...just like how Star Wars movies continued with the same scores for certain themes, characters etc.

The hype is going to eat all the other hype!

As someone who's been on these boards regularly for the past few years it's great to see a surge in activity since the recent casting announcements. The hype can only build from here!

Yup. Just as I suspected.
