Gwen was alright, but she didn't strike me as all that interesting. Besides, Season 5 of Angel followed a formula proven effective by Season 4 of Buffy: When you lose Cordelia, bring in Spike and Harmony. And anyone who thinks that Spike and Angel aren't at their best as a duo is full of lies.
I found Gwen to be annoying and Im glad she wasnt added to the main cast. Like you I didnt find her interesting. Plus I thought she was a bit too flashy to fit in

So, recently I've been rewatching the season two episodes of Buffy. I tend to mostly watch the third through fifth seasons, so I decided to watch the second season from beginning to end.

I was reminded of how ****ing annoying Kendra was. That accent... ugh.

What, cha nevah huhd a Ja-MAY-cahn befahr?

Well, I have, and they sure as hell don't sound like Kendra. :o Outside of the accent, though, she wasn't terrible. Just a bit generic.

Well are we even sure she was Jamaican? I mean, there were times when I could have sworn I heard some Irish slip in. Maybe Scottish... either way, not good.

Yeah, it was never really mentioned where she was from. I wonder if Joss just told her to "try to sound foreign" or something.

I think I always thought she was from the West Indies as well. I didnt like how quickly she was killed. Not so much that it happened but that she only had like 2 and a half appearances. We barely got to see her

I thought she was african, probably south african even though the accent doesn't match

What airline plane did she get off on her first arrival

I always thought she was African as well, but according to Buffy Wiki she was Jamaican.

I think we can all agree that Faith was a significant improvement.

I would have liked all three of them actually

buffy in the middle trying to deal with real life, kendra being a strict coded selfless slayer and faith being a renegade free one.

each one with varying degrees of watcher influence to counteract them.

I'm actually thinking if they sorted kendra's accent out, she could have worked really well in an angel series.

faith worked better for angel imo... but she shoulda just been in it more.

Even though I love Faith, I wish Kendra didnt get killed off that quickly. Have her survive until like the first three episodes of S3, kill her off, bring in Faith.

i didn't say it was possible, i said i would have liked to see all three of them interacting.

:o

Since Faith needed the death of Buffy or Kendra to become a Slayer, that would've been impossible.
Wasn't something like that in one of the books?

Also I always took it that Buffy's death didn't call another Slayer after Kendra. She died at the hands of Glory and there was still only 2 slayers till Willow worked her magic at the end of the show.

Well, Faith would be considered the current slayer, and she never died, so another slayer was never sent again.

It was always said that when a Slayer died the next was called. Buffy was always a Slayer but couldn't call anyone anymore.

yeah, there's only one "calling" and when buffy died at the end of the first season, Kendra became the slayer. But buffy was brought back to life, so there ended up being 2.

Kendra died, calling Faith, and Faith would be the current "true" slayer.

Buffy's death by glory could not signal another slayer, because she had alreadly summoned Kendra.
