Around 2002 Buffy the Vampire Slayer was said to be turned into an animated series. Set in Season One, With Buffy, Xander, Willow, Giles and Cordelia starring as the main characters. With Joyce also showing up and a Ten year Old Dawn in the mix. Now 6 Years Later it seems to be coming true....with this news from themovieblog.com and additiona lvideo too.

“It was a very simple entry point,” Loeb said. “There is a girl in high school who has been chosen to fight evil, and there’s a great deal of it in her town. Here are her friends, and here is her watcher.”Loeb said that the initial idea was for him and Joss Whendon to do an animated series in 2002, which would’ve taken place within Season 1 of the live-action show.”We liked to call it episode seven-and-a-half,” Loeb joked. “It was a much simpler time. Angel had been introduced, but he was not yet Angelus. We could retrofit Dawn as a ten-year-old, so you can really play the older sister gag. Their mom is alive.”

Alyson Hannigan, Anthony Stewart Head and Nicholas Brendon all provide their voices. I'm not sure if this was filmed recently or 6 years ago as I remember reading in Buffy magazine they had recorded their voices but Sarah Michelle Gellar hadn't.....

What does everyone think of this show returning in this format?

It looked good to bad it never happen. I heard that one of the issues for the Buffy comic will be about the animated show.

That does not confirm anything, especially considering that animated bit is already a few years old.

yeah i see no conformation on it happening now... and personally.. i wouldnt watch it unless it happened as season 8... i mean it can be fun and stuff but i'd rather add to the mythos, not create another reality of them.

Well, it could be "untold tales" from season 1's new, post-Dawn-retcon era. That would be in continuity but allow it to return to a more fun time in Buffy's history.

Um... wow. This news is a few years old. I heard that they recorded the audio and animated a short demo segment, but no one wanted to pick the show up to air on TV. There were rumors of a direct to video episode being made, but nothing ever came of that.

This was all half a decade ago. Nothing's coming.

It's quite amazing this was not picked up by anyone and quite frankly still isn't. Who exactly were the geniuses that thought an animated version of a popular tv show wouldn't be watched by anyone when there is such absolute garbage when it comes to cartoons these days?

20th. Century. Fox.

IMO, you never know what might happen. I mean, Ripper is still a possibility. Why not this? Maybe, whoever did the Hellboy DTVs for Dark Horse could do ones for Buffy TAS. If the fan response is strong enough, I dont think its an impossibility.

I always nod and smile when I hear anything about Ripper now. Anthony Stewart Head's not getting any younger and neither Whedon nor the Beeb really seem to want to get off their asses and make it that much anymore, so I doubt it'll ever happen.

Should it ever happen, do I have permission to laugh in your face? :D

Hmm... now that Jeph Loeb isnt on Heroes anymore, that frees up alot of his time. I hope he and Joss attempt to move forward with their original ideas for the animated series. Either that or he could work harder on his comics. He's been kinda lacking lately...

On the one hand, people (myself included) also said that about Chinese Democracy, which is finally coming out...

On the other... Well, I doubt the new Duke Nukem game will ever happen. :csad:

well Joss has already tried twice to get this off the ground. Both times being a failure. And with Dollhouse and his other commitments, I dont see him trying a third time to get the animated series off the ground again. Espically since he would have to try to get all the actors back to do due the voices.

Ironically, I'm skeptical about the former but continue to hope for the latter. :o
