Having never even watched an episode of Buffy before, I thought I'd finally give it a go and have been moving very slowly through Season 1. Next up is "Angel", which I'm looking forward to because I know he becomes an important character. It's not terrible or amazing so far; it's a bit dated, but that's to be expected, and I'm still waiting for it to hit its stride and wow me. Considering it's so popular, I'm assuming that'll happen sooner rather than later.

Definitely stick with it until you get to Season 2.
That's when everything starts paying off, and it only gets better.
Then, you must follow Angel in his own adventures when you hit that point. Buffy is the analogy of coming of age, Angel is the analogy of adulthood.

Season 1 is pretty much a half season. The show goes from 12 eps to 22 eps, and season 2 is when it really gets started. Season 1 starts us off and gives us a nice foundation, but season 2 is really where the show begins to shine.

I'm prob going to review season 2 this week too

"Angel" was my favourite episode so far. It had some great character growth for Buffy, Darla was a decent enough villain, and while David Boreanaz didn't give the best performance in the world, Angel is already a very sympathetic character and I can't wait to see more of him. I loved his line, "There's nothing worse than knowing the kind of things I've done and caring" I hope the fight scenes get better, though. At the moment they're very stilted and clunky.

The fight scenes do get better. The budget increases a lot for Season 2.

Boreanaz was good in season 1, but wait til you see him in season 2. He's awesome

Yeah. Boreanaz is great in season 2.

Just thinking about it makes me want to watch it again.

Just finished watching "I, Robot...You, Jane" and although it was a bit goofy, I actually kind of enjoyed it. The idea of Moloch being released into the internet by Willow scanning the book was quite clever, and although the execution wasn't perfect, it was fairly entertaining. So far I'm liking pretty much all of the characters except Xander - everyone seems to have a purpose (Buffy's the Slayer, Willow's the computer/library girl, Giles is the mentor) and while I get that he's supposed to be the human element, all he seems to do is hang around cracking jokes and trying to hit on Buffy. Maybe he'll grow on me though.

Dont start Angel until you finish season 3 of buffy

I probably won't start Angel until I've finished watching Buffy...unless it's better to watch them alongside each other?

If you want to get the full effect of the cross-overs then it is good to watch it alongisde each other. Once you get to S6/S3 then you can watch seperately up until the late half of S7/4.

Oh right, I'll do that then. Thanks. I watched the episode with the puppet, that was pretty funny (sometimes for the wrong reasons). Looking forward to getting to Season 2 when the show has found its footing a little more.

Xander was one of my favorites on the show. Also, I really like the Puppet episode.

Speaking of puppets. Smile Time was a great Angel episode.

:hehe:

I actually liked the puppet episode too, I just laughed at a few parts that I don't think I should have. And Xander is slowly growing on me.

One of my favourite scenes so far is the end of "I, Robot...You, Jane" when Buffy, Xander, and Willow are laughing about how they're never going to be able to have a normal relationship, but then they realise it isn't actually funny.

Smile Time was the greatest episode in television history. :o

The sometimes cross shows, so I would recommend watching it on a Disc by disc basis. Usually, the first part of the cross over happens in Buffy, so I say watch 1 disc Buffy and then 1 disc Angel when you get to Season 4 of Buffy, cause Angel Season 1 ran at the same time. You should get the full effect that way.

 Thanks for the advice, I'll be sure to do that.

Xander takes some time to really connect with. I had the same feeling in regard to Xander early on, but by the end of the show, he is one of my favorite characters.

Xander annoyed me many times during seasons 2 and 3. So many times I wanted to see him get the **** kicked out of him. But from season 4-7 I quite liked him.

I think seasons 6 and 7 are his shining moments. I actually about cried during one of his monologues in season 7.

Though best Xander episode ever is The Zeppo by far.

Yeah nekkid Eliza Dushku is always worth a watch

I've nearly finished Season 1. The finale is up next, gonna watch it now. I'm figuring Cordelia is gonna find out the truth about the Hellmouth and the Slayer soon enough, considering she had her brush with the supernatural in "Out of Mind, Out of Sight". That was a pretty good episode, actually; I liked the subtle hints that Buffy still doesn't quite feel like she fits in (Xander and Willow having their private jokes, Cordelia reminding her of when she used to be popular). Not too heavy-handed, but present enough to give the viewer a glimpse that Buffy still doesn't quite fit with the normal world.

Iron Man,

Wait till u get to S6, there is a really sad epi, enough said

Is that "The Body"? I've heard a lot about that.

Anyway, I finally got around to watching "Prophecy Girl" and loved it. Definitely my favourite episode so far. I loved the way it humanised the characters, with Buffy refusing to be in harm's way when she knew she would die and Willow breaking down over seeing the bodies. It seems like Cordelia has been brought into the fold along with Ms Calendar and Angel too. Looking forward to Season 2

I envy you, getting to watch this show with fresh eyes. If you thought season 1 was great, hold on to your hat.

I was a latecomer to Buffy. I watched the whole thing for the first time earlier this year.

From what I remember, season 3 was my fave. Followed by S4, S2 and S5. I understand S4 isn't actually that popular (I see why: Adam is lame, Riley is dull) and sometimes I regret putting it so high, but it has too many of my favourite episodes to ignore.

Giles is my favourite. Willow is adorable too. Spike is good, but massively overused.
