I didn't say no one would remember halo, I said people will remember it as a fad. Just like say Ultima Online. When it first came out it was huge, then it got bigger and bigger. Then, eventually like 5 or 6 years later, other games came out and it got smaller and smaller. Now you can play the damn thing for free on the official servers because they're trying to get more people to play it.

People still remember Beanie Babies, and Pogs, and other such nonscenses that you get caught up in, and they will with Halo. It's just a matter of time.

That's all I'm gonna say on this. I obviously have a differing opinion than some of you guys, and it's not gonna go anywhere anyway.

The Doom games came out and were huge. Then Half-Life came along and people stopped playing the Doom games. Were they a "fad"? No. They are a legacy.

Just because something becomes historical, doesn't mean it's a fad.

Exactly. There just might be a game that has more of an impact on gaming than the Halo series some years down the road. That doesn't mean that the Halo series will be considered a fad. It's simply the evolution of gaming and developers.
